Lesson 1: Nature and Background of Social Dances and Dance Mixers

I. Introduction

Welcome to the first part of your lesson in Social Dances and Dance Mixers, the
Nature and Back ground of Social Dances. In this lesson you will be familiarize on different
social dances that have been dancing in the community.

The Objectives of this lesson:


 Describe the nature and background of social dances and dance mixers.
 Explain the implication of social dances and dance mixers to one’s fitness
and well-being.
 Choreograph a simple routine in a specific genre.
 Appreciate the importance of social dance participation in the community.

III. Engagement
There are guidelines that help you direct the social dimensions of dancing, it called
as Dance Etiquette. Dance etiquette is the set of conventional rules which govern the
social behavior of social dance by its participants.1
With the assistance of your parent, shade the correct ETIQUETTE in performing
social dances.
