The Current You:
Where I am right now well I am starting to become the professional me. Currently my Facebook
is for friends and socializing not at all professional. I changed the name I was using to my real identity
name. For example I was called Mariposa it’s Spanish for butterfly I was a nick name that my friends
gave me. But now that I need to be more aware about what goes on that page because I don’t want my
future professional employers to receive a wrong impression about me. Now in days more and more
employer are looking into those pages and taking a closer look at who people show them self as and if
they may not consider them because they don’t want to feel associated with their company. Which I on
the other hand for me Facebook is my social network to connect with friends and to other social
networks. Therefore when I knew there was Linked In I decided that was the way to go professional and
post all my information on for employers to see because it’s more formal.
Where I want to be This section should have a sub-section for every criteria you list
Discuss how your current digital identity fulfills, or not, this criteria.
1. Strong work ethic- well until just recently I had a different name in one of my identities but it
was because it was a nickname. The other Identity was as truthful as possible because that
was I wanted to really come across as my professional self.
2. Good communication skills- I have taken the time to fill each category of the profiles to be
able to let my readers know what I want them to know about me .
3. Time management- as updates come along I make sure to post them in a timely manner to
be able to demonstrate what progress I have done.
4. Ability to accept and Learn from Criticism- As I will be confronted with many uncomfortable
situations I have learn to find a middle ground where they are happy and so am I.
5. Ability to work well under pressure- There will be times that some task will be given a dead
line but I know there are times that some may change the deadline or have additional
requirement to finish the task.
Bridging the Gap
Current strengths in my digital self-
Communication, creative, finance management, innovative, multi-tasking, interpersonal
relations, initiative, organized, problem solver, and responsible
Analysis of Strengths:
1. Finance management – I’m good with numbers because it about plugging in and pushing
out. Also I feel like it’s a part of everyday life. For example, even if it’s just the credit card bill
or buying something the children need, I think money management is always part of
the job.
2. Organized- overtime I have been able to organize physical objects but also time. I think One
part of being successful is to have a place for everything so I don’t have to spend time
looking for it. Time is something that has its place if its 2:00 pm its 2:00 pm and time is
something that almost everyone has respect for. I have set time for doing important task
and time for other things. I set deadlines so that I can make sure I get everything done
accordingly.
Current weaknesses in my digital self
Being patient, MS Excel, procrastinating, strong attitude, overtaking, and loud speaker
Analysis of Weakness:
1. Procrastinating- Admitting that I had a procrastinating issue was not apparent till I found
myself cleaning every time I had an assignment due. Then it really hit me, thinking about
that I have a big important project due at the end of the week and there I was cleaning. Now
I have learned to split the assignments into time windows. For example for that project I
calculated how long it would take me if I did it in one time then I just divide into the week
and write down how much I should get done and how much time. Then I make time the
days I have available to work on it.
2. Strong attitude- I have had many leadership training camps, classes and different
management course. I have had to work in many team projects or supervised a group of
seven to ten people, and I have been made aware that I may come across rude or impatient.
I continue to take courses that strengthen my skills in leadership and let my fellow
teammates know that I may come across with a strong attitude but to just let me know if
they feel I’m being rude. I continue to do this because by saying it out loud I not only have a
commitment to watch my attitude but also with my teammates.
