Assignment Chapter 12

1. Terrell invests $54,000 for a 50% interest in the partnership. Journal entries record Terrell's investment as a credit to his capital account and bonuses distributed to the existing partners as debits to their capital accounts. 2. The total capital of the existing partnership is $12,000. With Terrell's $54,000 investment, the total capital of the new partnership is $66,000. 3. Instead, Terrell invests $48,000 for a 40% interest. The journal entry records Terrell's investment as a credit to his capital account and bonuses paid to the existing partners as debits reducing Terrell's capital account.

40,000 to Coburn and HK$35,000 to Woo, interest of 10% on beginning capital, and the remainder
divided 50%–50%. Prepare the journal entry to record the allocation of net income.

Total Salaries = 40,000 + 35,000 = 75,000

Total Interest on beginning capital = 60,000 * 10% + 90,000 * 10% = 15,000
So the negative amount 10,000 (80,000 - 75,000 - 15,000) to be devided to their
income sharing agreement 50% - 50%.
