                                  INTRODUCTION
PROJECT CONTEXT
       Nowadays, Transportation is a driving force behind development and the well-
being of all people around the world. Transportation contributes to the economic,
industrial, social and cultural development of any country. The transportation
facilities retard the process social and economic development of the country. There is
a need for application of electronic and information technology in improving the
efficiency of road transportation and safety on roads. Traffic Planning and
Management in Philippine has become an integral part of transportation. So there is a
need to select the technology, which is best suited to the needs of the country and the
same time is cost effective and efficient.
       However, the purpose of route management and route scheduling is a process
of planning for one and more multiple routes with the purpose of minimizing overall
cost, while achieving the highest possible performance under a set of given control
and considering other routes which share the same purpose. The main objective of
route management and route scheduling, is to minimize their expenses, time, and
vehicle usage costs. Therefore, Route Management System offers route optimization
to assist logistics organizations in meeting consignee demands for quicker and
accurate deliveries.

       In a decade in the transportation industry, Metro Express Connect Inc. started
as mere shuttle services group. With a fleet of no more than 20 shuttles, they began
servicing Camella subdivisions at the areas of Batangas, Laguna and Cavite duly
sworn to provide quality transportation to communities, connecting them to
commercial development and city centers. As the years’ progress, they have soon
acquired bigger and bolder projects, widening their operations from 3 areas up to
several areas across Luzon, reaching as far as tuguegarao.
       With the same virtue of providing safe, seamless, and affordable
transportation, Metro Express Connect Inc. ventured into regional operations then
cementing the confidence of Vistaland Communities and local government units to
convey their residents and families from their home to their destination punctually.
       Recently, Metro Express Connect Inc. expand their operation from shuttling
services to delivering cargo services to able to enhance their capability on handling a
shipments using delivering services and to make bigger revenues that might help their
company to move forward. However, along with their company’s development it is
also a big test for them to have severe traffic that can interfere with their delivery
operations. Like how they avoid intense traffic that we are experiencing in Luzon
especially in Metro Manila wherein there are having more delivery sites. Instead of
being able to do three or four round trips, they lucky to be able to do two, which
translates to lost revenues and in many cases. Also it includes the hours and gasoline
cost of the company.

       The study will be leading to the efficient solution of the company it because of
the situation they are facing, and as a student of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng
Muntinlupa. We came up with the goal of alleviating their problems by presenting

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION
       The project was conducted in order to coordinate the movement of people,
goods and vehicles in order to utilize routes most efficient. This in turn increases the
efficiency of vehicle use, as the same vehicle can be used for multiple drop jobs by
developing a Logistic Route Management System. Once developed, the proposed
system shall be used by the said beneficiary exclusively.
 Listed below are the description of the project by enumerating its capabilities:
   1. It will find the fastest possible route for each of their vehicles, so deliveries get
       made faster
   2. Each route is calibrated to hit as many drops locations as possible cutting fuel
       costs and improving their overall efficiency
   3. They will save time by scheduling the routes of the trucks
   4. Improve working conditions of drivers by directly they receive their daily
       routes on their smartphone or tablet.
   5. Improve the level of customer satisfaction

Once the proposed Logistic Route Management System is implemented, it will
give a significance particularly to the following:
   Transport Supervisor Since that they are currently giving the route of
deliveries manually or via text message and phone call. This system it will help
transport supervisor by making their work much lesser in time because this system
have a route optimization to create the best routes in a few minutes and to manage
the daily operations of their transportation fleets.
   Company Driver(s) Planned routes mean that drivers spend less time driving,
which reduces fuel costs and can increase both time onsite and the number of
drops per deliveries can make in a day.
   Customer(s)      With    this   system    their     company   improves   customer
communication regarding their orders, and also increased the accuracy of
estimated time of arrival and meet other customer demands.
   Researcher(s) This system that we make from our beneficiary is to find the
fastest way to create their delivery process.
   Future Researcher(s) This system serves as evidence of knowledge and this
documentation can help them as their guide for doing a system application
proposal too. It will give them an idea how they’ll start and initialize their systems
that the part of College of Information Technology and Computer Studies obtain
from their two-year or four-year stay in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
       The study conducted in this proposed system is to be reachable and accessible
in comes of delivering around the Philippines especially the entire Luzon mostly in
NCR (National Capital Region) it will be find an easiest way to reach out those sites
like Malls, Super Market etc. Aside on that this system can lessen the time of
traveling of the deliveries and also to optimize the process of deliveries on some point
like dispatching routes, monitoring routing activity and improving planned routes.
       Another feature of this system is having a multiple drops delivery that can
make a lot of efficiency to dispatch the cargo along the designated sites or area that
the company supposed to be deliver the cargo shipments.
       The study will be limited to delivering process to able reached out the Visayas
and Mindanao area especially when the cargo shipments cannot be transacting on the
land area and it can be able to deliver through sea area using the following like Ship,
2GO Ship lines or the 3rd party logistics. Aside of that system it cannot determine the
nearest landmark or signage if the cargo shipment will be delivered passing sea area
to land area except for the kilometers measure to identify the travel time and reach the
designated area that the delivery supposed to be drop off, unless on the land area that
have a lot of landmarks, street name sign to able to determine the location sites of the
delivery.
