Welcome!

I am so happy that you have decided to take the Introduction to Meditation course. The very fact that
you have invested in this course, tells me that you are ready to begin or deepen your journey within. To
know who you are is the greatest gift you can ever gift yourself and meditation is one of the most
important tools in this journey of self discovery.

Some notes about this course, you will find that the study unfolds slowly, just like most things in nature.
There is no benefit to jumping right into meditation without a solid understanding of the principals that
will create a strong meditation practice. This course is based on the Saivite Hindu tradition of meditation
that was developed over thousands of years in India and Sri Lanka and was taught to me by my Guru
when I lived as a Saivite Hindu monk for 10 years. The tradition is based on the philosophy of Hinduism,
but can be practiced by anyone of any faith as the principals of how the mind works and meditation are
universal to all people.

Each lesson in this course is an important and necessary step in creating a strong and sustainable
meditative lifestyle. Commit to the study, see it through to the end and most importantly, enjoy this
inner journey to your Higher Self.

Community Forum

The community forum, located at the bottom of each week’s page, is where you can ask questions on
that week’s lesson, share your relfections and/or engage with other students who taking this course.
Meditation is a solitary inner journey, but having a community of like-minded souls on the outside to
support you on the journey is very helpful and that’s the purpose of this forum. My guru would often
say, “The group helps the individual, and the individual helps the group.” I encourage you to engage in
this forum as much as possible.
