INSTALLATION
1. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this method statement is to define construction sequence in relation to
the installation of Air Terminal Devices for air conditioning system. Precautions to be
observed during unloading, lifting, shifting, storing and installation of Air Terminal Devices.
All works will be carried out in accordance with site safety rules and regulations as guided
by HSE Management. This method statement shall be read in conjunction with project
specification, relevant codes for installation & testing.
2. SCOPE:
This method statement defines the construction sequence in relation to the installation of
air terminal devices. The work will be coordinated along with other services during the
entire execution. This method statement is proposed for the installation of accessories
such as volume control dampers, fire / smoke dampers, motorized dampers shall comprise
of AHU ducting, TFA ducting, fresh and exhaust fan duct works. The aim of the method
statement is to set out the procedures, precautions to observe during unloading, storage,
lifting and shifting of material to desired location, installation sequence. All works shall be
carried out in accordance with Site safety rules and regulations as guided by the Engineer.
This method statement shall be read in conjunction with the applicable project specification
and testing.

6. METHODOLOGY
Material Receipt
The grills, diffusers & dampers material will be received at Site Yard/Storage facility. These
materials will be checked for manufacture details, as per delivery note and approved
material submittal to ensure delivery is correct.
Verification of quantity as per the delivery notes / identification labels and test certificates
of the sheets shall be done by the installation supervisor.
Inspect the material upon delivery.
Details of the material receipt, test certificate will be conveyed to CtrlS Project Engineer and
Quality Engineer.
Material Handling (Material and Equipment preservation).
Use hand gloves for shifting / unloading / loading / handling etc.
Unload ADP material manually and store the material at designated place.
For movement of the material and delivery vehicles, CtrlS safety guidelines shall be
followed.
Do not drop or drag the material.
Always be careful to avoid damage when handling.
Material Storage (Material Storage and Management Method)
Installation supervisor should maintain the proper storage as per the site requirement.
Damaged materials should be kept in designated area & tagged and shall be taken out of the
site from time to time with information to the fabrication yard.
General Work Methodology

Prior Preparations before Commencement of works
Check for latest GFC/Shop drawings.
Review the risk assessment with the current site conditions.
Check for approachability to work area.
Check the delivered devices – Type, Quality, Quantity, Protection, and Stock Condition.
Check material test report or certification in compliance with approved material specification.
Check whether the area is clear / civil & HSE clearance available for installation.
Check for any physical damage.
Ensure the certified scaffolding is available at site for working at height.
All workers to attend safety induction conducted by safety officer and specific training on the site
installation methods by supervisor.
The site supervisors ensure availability of required skilled and semi-skilled workmen to perform the
job
Installation Procedure for Diffusers & Grills
The following procedure shall be followed for installation of Diffusers & Grills
Grills / Diffusers shall be submitted for Consultant Approval before proceeding with installation
Prior to the start of installation, check the approved false ceiling drawing related to the area of
installation and ensure that required material is available at site as per approved material submittals

INSTALLATION
Check the horizontal & vertical vanes of grills & register. There should not be any bend and
adequate support should be provided by Manufacturer is grill is too long.
Check the borders of grills/diffusers for gap free aligned joints
Ensure that proper clearance is available from civil side before commencement of works
Ensure work area is clean and safe for carrying out installation of grill/diffuser.

Installation of Grills & Diffusers
After completion of false ceiling work mark location of grill/diffuser as per approved false ceiling
drawing.
After grill / diffuser location is confirmed by Site Engineer (HVAC), opening is to be made in the
marked place.
After cutting the opening, proper false ceiling support and alignment is to be done.
Check level of gypsum false ceiling while installing grills & diffusers
Grills & diffusers should not be directly supported by gypsum surfaces. Proper frame should be
provided at the back by the false ceiling contractor
Check grills / diffuser collars are securely fixed into the frame.

Ensure that damper blades of supply air grills & diffusers are properly secured in nylon bushes for rattle
free operation.
Installation procedure for grills in wall
Wooden frame is to be provided for all grill on the wall by main contractor
7 . Inspection & Testing
The Installation work shall be Inspected jointly by ABS & CtrlS Engineer for visual testing.
The in process works shall be monitored for quality of workmanship and installation against
approved shop drawings by contractor’s site engineer
Upon the arrival of ADP material to site the same shall be inspected by c ontractor’s site
engineer for visual and dimensional checks
All the works shall be inspected for the conformance towards project
specifications
The inspection formats shall be used in accordance with the requirements
of main contractor’s Unique documentation procedures

After contractor’s site inspection the inspection request shall be officially submitted to
engineer for inspection and approval.
RECORDS:
All inspection formats and other records shall be as per project approved forms.
The inspection formats shall be used in accordance with the requirements of Client
documentation procedures
