COURSE SYLLABUS
Program Outcomes: A graduate of a business or management degree should be able to:
1. Perform the basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling.
2. Apply the basic concepts that underlie each of the functional areas of business (marketing, finance, human resources management, production and operations
management, information technology, and strategic management) and employ these concepts in various business situations.

Course Title: Personal Finance
Course Description: PF 1
Credit Unit: Three (3) Lecture Units equivalent to three (3) hours every week for 18 weeks or 54 hours in a semester
Course Prerequisite: None
Course Description:
This course tackles the concepts of personal finance. It includes discussions and overview on financial statements (income statement and balance sheet), banking services, and preparing budgets.
Furthermore, it tackles the basic principles and practical application on loans, savings, and the time value of money which are important aspects in Personal Finance that will help guide students to
make sound and wise financial decisions today and in the future.

Course Outcomes: At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Apply the concept of a personal finance in all decision-making scenarios, especially when making personal financial decisions.
2. Recognize the significance of various finance principles and concepts and prepare simple financial statements.
3. Compute for simple interest, discount, and compounding interest to determine the valuation of loans and investment opportunities.
