especially in this time of pandemic?

Sports pala ‘yun ih!

Today's lesson gave me understanding about individual and dual sports. While reading
the module, I realized that sports does not only develop our physical aspects but it also develop
much more important part of our lives. It enhances our mental toughness as we are going to face
different kinds of struggles while participating in a sport. It also let us learn to be a sport
ourselves as we will meet different kinds of people while playing on a field or court.

On a sad note, during this pandemic, I don't think sport have a big impact in my life.
Being in our house for a long time and do not have the privilege to go outside, I am forced to not
be able to do much of a physical activity. But I did realized that not being able to do any sport in
life really have a bad effect in our bodies. I can say this because not being able to do things I do
normally before this pandemic really made my body more vulnerable.

As said earlier that sports does not only enhances our physical toughness, little did we
know that it also contribute on our mental ability. Together with not developing our body if we
do not have sports, it also do not contribute anything in our mental aspects. Staying in the house
and our minds not being used things with purpose also affect our mental health badly. We lose
our thinking reflex that we use while playing sports and we are doing poor even on
accomplishing simple things.

It just proves that not having any physical activity either be it playing on any sport or not
will make a big impact in our lives. Also, as we grow older, we will appreciate how important
sport is. And with that, as much as we can do sports, we should do it for the purpose of
developing ourselves and how we approach the world we are living.

Reflective Question: ESSAY

E-sport na yan!

Sports are a crucial part of a student's growth and development. It helps me and other
people in the development of both mental health and physical fitness of the body. Through
participation in sports and games, we gain various skills, experience and confidence that are
helpful for developing our personality. The importance of discussing Sports is that we can learn
different sports that we would like to join or try and for us to assess if we have the skills that we
need to enhance through a specific sport that we would like to take part of. Also, I learned that
engaging with sport can shape our body and makes it strong and active. This is because sports
improve our blood circulation and physical well-being. Most of the athletes improve and develop
new skills, leading to improved performance and confidence. Having Individual sports also
allows for independence and can be a great fit for a person who doesn't want to rely on someone
else's skills to perform well. Some individual sports allow flexibility with training times and
regimens.will be able to demonstrate or explain spatial awareness, movement principles during
play and the physical benefits of play, now, I can perform locomotor patterns. On the other hand,
dual sports will surely develop teamwork and coordination since it needs both to win the game.
And also like individual sports builds muscular strength and promotes tactical strategy.

The global outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in closure of gyms, stadiums, pools,
dance and fitness studios, physiotherapy centres, parks and playgrounds. Many individuals are
therefore not able to actively participate in their regular individual or group sporting or
physical activities outside of their homes. Under such conditions, many tend to be less physically
active, have longer screen time, irregular sleep patterns as well as worse diets, resulting in
weight gain and loss of physical fitness. Low-income families are especially vulnerable to
negative effects of stay at home rules as they tend to have sub-standard accommodations and
more confined spaces, making it difficult to engage in physical exercise.

Through this, many of us take the opportunity to do a lot of things when so many of us
are very restricted in our movements, it is even more important for people of all ages and
abilities to be as active as possible. Even a short break from sitting, by doing 3-5 minutes of
physical movement, such as walking or stretching, will help ease muscle strain, relieve mental
tension and improve blood circulation and muscle activity. Regular physical activity can also
help to give the day a routine and be a way of staying in contact with family and friends. The
World Health Organization (WHO) article talks about how the benefits of such periodic exercise
are proven, especially in times of anxiety, crisis and fear. There are concerns therefore that, in
the context of the pandemic, lack of access to regular sporting or exercise routines may result in
challenges to the immune system, physical health, including by leading to the commencement of
or exacerbating existing diseases that have their roots in a sedentary lifestyle.

Lack of access to exercise and physical activity can also have mental health impacts,
which can compound stress or anxiety that many will experience in the face of isolation from
normal social life. Possible loss of family or friends from the virus and impact of the virus on
one’s economic well-being and access to nutrition will exacerbate these effects. For many,
exercising at home without any equipment and limited space can still be possible. For those
whose home life can involve long periods of sitting, there may be options to be more active
during the day, for example by stretching, doing housework, climbing stairs or dancing to music.
In addition, particularly for those who have internet access, there are many free resources on
how to stay active during the pandemic. As well as the community are engaged with social
media sites and online content tailored to different people; from free tutorials on social media,
to stretching, meditation, yoga and dance classes in which the whole family can participate.
Educational institutions are providing online learning resources for students to follow at home.
Many fitness studios are offering reduced rate subscriptions to apps and online video and audio
classes of varying lengths that change daily. There are countless live fitness demonstrations
available on social media platforms. Many of these classes do not require special equipment and
some feature everyday household objects instead of weights.

The digital divide has thus not only an impact on distance banking, learning or
communication, but also on benefiting from accessing virtual sport opportunities. Radio and
television programs that activate people as well as distribution of printed material that
encourages physical activity are crucial in bridging the digital divide for many households
living in precarious conditions. Young people are particularly affected by social and physical
distancing, considering sport is commonly used as a tool to foster cooperation and
sportsmanship, promote respectful competition, and learn to manage conflict. Without sport,
many young people are losing the support system that such participation provided. Currently
some organizations, and schools have begun using virtual training as a method for leagues,
coaches and young people to remain engaged in sport activities while remaining in their homes.

The prime of individual or dual sports

In every sports, players should first understand the basic skills, rules, strategy and etiquette inside the
game. Those things will give them not only knowledge and lesson but also it will give them an idea on
what the sports can really do; it can give love, fun and enjoyment. Someone says, “Sports are for fun, but
they also offer benefits and lessons that carry over into all aspects of life”.

Every kind of physical sports is healthy because it involves running, jumping, stretching, mind skills
and much more. There are so many sports available in the world nowadays, but we can categorize them
by the numbers of players, there are individual sport and dual sport. First is the individual sports,
Individual sports teach players how to motivate themselves. There is no team pressuring them to improve,
the drive has to come from within. This kind of intrinsic motivation is oftentimes much more powerful
than external motivation. Also, Youth athletes in individual sports learn to be self reliant. Their success is
entirely dependent on their own efforts. Next is, Dual sports It is played by two people at one time. The
games in dual sports are good for those people who are afraid of facing group of people during game and
cannot perform well in sports with teams, those kinds of person can choose dual sports in which they can
find a companion that they can build their confidence with as well as personality. In addition, it also
provides physical and mental strength to cope with team players. You can play these games with your
friends in school or at home and in your leisure time. It keeps a person fresh and gives him/her peace of
mind.

To sum it up, Individual and Dual sports or any kind of sports provides students and players a
knowledge that they can use in and outside the game area. It also give them strategies that emphasize
organizing, teaching and progess in sport. Indeed, sports gives a huge impact in our lives. It keeps us
healthy in body and mind, it gives us friends and team mates who is always there for us and it provides us
enjoyment in life.

Reflection

1or 2 Still Important

Does having individual sport is better than dual sports? Is dual sport being much harder to play?
Do I need to be physically fit to do sport?

Sport in general in my own knowledge is the best way to become physically fit. Also, not just our
body is the one benefited to it but also are social, mental and emotional health. When doing sport our
body releases energy to burn fats and eliminate toxins, it also releases the happy hormone called
endorphin that makes the mood of the person happier. Sport may consist of having to play with your
friend or other people that may create bond to your socialization. All in all, sports in general is good for
us.

Individual sports and dual sports. For me this has a pros and cons but still both is good kind of
sport. In individual, accessible for the player because it does not need another person just to play although
some dual sport can be played alone like playing table tennis along with a wall. Still individual sport is
much more accessible. The cons of it is that sometimes you may feel lack of motivation because you are
doing it alone but still you can invite friend to tag along but not necessarily need one to make it playable.
Dual sports in other have is kind of opposite of individual but still the same or somehow similar.

In conclusion, sports either individual or dual is still a sport. We get benefited no matter what.
Maybe we choose one over the other but non the less we both what to be physically fit and to have
something is our life called recreational activity. Do not say one is better than the other. The both of it is
still sports and sports is still a physical activity.

Road to Healthy You

Sports have a vital role in our lives. It keeps us fit, healthy and makes us active. Being
physically and mentally active makes our lifestyle healthy. For the 7 months of year 2020, we
experienced an unexpected situation wherein we are not allowed to go outside of our house
because of the COVID 19 pandemic. And because of that, doing sports have been limited.

There are 2 types of sports which is the outdoor and indoor sports. Even if we are not
allowed to stay outside of our house, we can think of ways to still perform sports indoor. It can
be either physically or mentally sports. As we all know some of our outdoor sports that are
common in our country are volleyball, basketball, hopscotch, badminton and many more needs a
wide space in able to be played. And since we stay inside our house, we cannot able to do it. So
instead of doing that, we can do dancing, exercising for our physical health. For our mental
health, we can play chess, scrabble for our brain to be active. We just need to be creative in
thinking of ways to kill boredom at the same time to be healthy while staying at home.

Let us all just hope that this pandemic will end soon so that we can go back to our normal
lives where we can interact with other people. We should not forget to stay healthy so that we are
not able to catch the virus easily and one of the ways you can do it is through sports.

The Importance of Sports for Individuals

The introduction to Individual and Dual Sports are basically about any sport in which a
player can play one vs. one, two vs. two, or compete against oneself. In this course, the students
will be able to learn and understand the basic skills, rules, strategy, etiquette and the
incorporation into structured games.
In this course, the college students are required to be fair, consistent, and transparent in
treatment of the policy that is implemented. It is important to know the purpose of this course
because it aims to provide the students with basic knowledge and skill in a variety of individual
and dual sports. So therefore the students must know the rules, instructional techniques for
evaluating performance, organization, and skill development in individual and dual sports in
which the strategies are also given to emphasize in organizing, teaching, and assessing student
progress in each sport. With the help of this, first the students now will be able to demonstrate or
explain spatial awareness, movement principles and the physical benefits during the activity.
Second, the students will be able to demonstrate proper rules, procedures and etiquette during the
activity and lastly the students will be able to demonstrate proper sportsmanship during the
activity.

During this pandemic, we have so much time for us to apply what we can learn from the
module because it is not only the sports that we can imply in our daily lives but also the
importance of having a physically fit. As a student, we are still not allowed to go outside of our
house so therefore we can use some of our spare times to practice and do some indoor trainings
for ourselves. It can be a great opportunity to regain ourselves from being physically fit even
during staying at home which help us to show our capabilities and skills to perform well
especially our endurance.

“Healthy isn’t a goal, it’s a way of living” here’s a healthy quote I found on Pinterest. A
quote that is a great reminder of another quote; it takes a step to move forward.

In this time of pandemic health is the biggest concern there’s no dispute about that. But
people being isolated and occupied by technology adds up as another concern and it is sad to say
that physical fitness is probably one of the least concerns on most of these people. That is why as
one of these people who are occupied by technology these quotes and this discussion serves as a
reminder to stay fit. That sport is actually one of the ways to occupy ourselves and it is healthier.
However, since fear to go outside is inevitable it is worth it just to be reminded by this
discussion, for it makes us have a will to stay fit which makes it totally more than enough.

With all these being said, it always comes down to us having the choice if we would want
to be fit and what you would do to live with it.

Quarantine life with sports

COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people in their daily lives including their

routine, income, social life, physical and mental health etc. The most common problem that we

are facing caused of the pandemic is our physical and mental health. Due to laws and regulations,

there are physical activities you cannot do to prevent spreading the virus such as going to gyms,

health clubs or fitness centers, play indoor or outdoor organized sporting events, visit public

swimming pools, and exercise with a group, etc.

The virus is all over the world and the vaccines are still on the trials. There are temporary

ways for us to fight this. Sports and other physical activities can help us to maintain a strong
immune system. Being physically fit is important especially for us, the students, the teachers and

to those who are working at home. Sports help us in character building and gives us energy and

quality. A solid eating routine and a functioning way of life will get great outcomes in our way

of life, brains and bodies. The recreational exercises wipe out the unfortunate propensities for

that may lead us to different kinds of diseases. Physical activities like sports is a natural and

effective anti-anxiety treatment. It relieves tension and stress, boosts physical and mental energy,

and enhances well-being through the release of endorphins. Preventing these to happen can cause

depression, stress and other negative effects on your physical and mental health.

There is a saying that I never get tired to hear “prevention is better than cure”. The midst

of this pandemic really affects a lot of people especially their physical and mental health. Sports

can really be the prevention of all this. We just need to apply it in our quarantine life and by that

I am pretty sure that it can relieve stress and can maintain a healthy body.

What is the importance of the discussion today? How can this be a help in your everyday living, especially in this
time of pandemic.

The importance lies on the fact that in order to live a healthy life one must dabble in to some activities to
ensure it. Sports whether individual or dual has been part of many people’s lives either for pleasure or for work.
Many do it competitively, competing with others as part of them practicing their perspective sports but for some
people sports is a hobby done for the purpose of exercising.
I am that person, I am physically weak, I can’t do running  without feeling out of breath after  several minutes unlike
people I know. Which is why now that there is a pandemic people like me should see it as a opportunity to get into
some sports to help strengthen one's immunity.  The pandemic made a lot of halts in our daily lives but it also gave
us time for us to indulge ourselves into other things we would not have done if it weren’t for the fact that there is a
pandemic.

Its very important for us to know what is the essence of sport and why do we have to do it especially now of all
times and in order to do that we shall start with being equip with some basic knowledge in the individual or dual
sports we want to try.
