3.0.0 Software Setup

3.1.0 Format the SD card


In Microsoft Windows use SD Formatter to format/remove any data on
the card.
In Microsoft Windows run Command Prompt/CMD in administrator
mode.
Type “diskpart” press Enter.
Type “list disk” press Enter.
Type “select disk X” press Enter, X being the SD card drive reference.
Type “clean” press Enter.
Type “clean” again and press Enter.

3.2.0 Prepare WinUAE


Extract the following Amiga software into a folder called “work” using
7-Zip.
o SFS.lha
o Amiga-LargeHD-28.lha
o Installer-4.3_3.lha
o hdinst.lha
o WHDload kickstarts
Run WinUAE in administrator mode.
Change options to suit the following:

Hardware

RAM
Add 8 MB of Fast RAM to maximum setup time.

Floppy Drive
Run at fastest (800%) to maximum setup time.
Add Workbench 3.0 – Workbench disk.

Hard Drive
Left Click “Add Hard Drive” select the 8 GB compact flash drive in the drop
down menu. Make sure the HD controller is set to IDE0.
Left Click “Add Directory or Achieve”.
Enter device name as “work”.
Enter volume name as “work”.
Left Click “Select directory” and browse the “work” folder you have created
on your PC.
Uncheck “Bootable”.
Left Click “OK”.

Configuration
Save this configuration.

Click “start”.

3.3.0 Formatting the SD Card for Amiga Use


WinUAE boots into an Amiga Workbench environment.
Open the “work” folder.
Right Click and hold inside the newly opened window and whilst
holding the Right Click down move the cursor to the top of the screen
to “Window” – “Show” – “All Files” then release Right Click.
Open “hdinst” folder.
Open “HDInstTools” icon.
Left Click “File System…”
Left Click “Add…”
Browse to “smartfilesystem”. Click “work:” in the right hand window
under Devices then “SFS” in the left hand window under Parent then
“Smartfilesystem” then “AmigaOS3.x” then “L” then
“SmartFilesystem” then Left Click “Load”.
Change “DOSType” to “SYS\0” press Enter. Note that the “\” key on
an Amiga keyboard is the same as the “#” key on a standard UK PC
keyboard. Left Click “Use”.
Select “SFS\0” and click “Use”.
Left Click “Partition Drive”.
Left Click “Add Partition”.
Left Click “Edit Partition”.

Creating partition 1 (DH0)


Move the “Size” slider bar to somewhere around 500,000 (kBytes).
Left Click “File System” until it reads “Custom”.
Change “DOSType” to “SFS\0” then press Enter.
Change “MaxTransfer” to “0x001FE00” then press Enter.
Change “Buffers” to “100” then press Enter.
Left Click “Use”.

Creating partition 2 (DH1)


Left Click “Add Partition”.
Left Click “Edit Partition”.
Left Click “File System” until it reads “Custom”.
Change “MaxTransfer” to “0x001FE00” then press Enter.
Change “Buffers” to “100” then press Enter.
Left Click “Use”.

Left Click “Use” again on the next window.


Left Click “Save changes to drive”.

Left Click “Yes” on the next pop up window.
Again Left Click “Yes” on the next pop up window. WinUAE will reboot
and it will load into the Workbench environment.
Format the first partition only (DH0). Open the “Workbench 3.0”
folder.
Open “System”.
Open “Shell”.
Type “cd work:smartfilesystem” press Enter.
Type “sfsformat drive DH0: name Workbench” press Enter.
Press Enter again.

3.4.0 Install Workbench onto Partition 1 (DH0)


Press “F12” to open the settings menu in WinUAE.
Left Click “Restart”. Not “Reset”
Remove all floppy disks and hard drives.
Go to the Hard Drives tab and add “Hard File”
Browse to the ClassicWB hdf file called “System.hdf”.
Press “Start”.
After the system has booted and asks for a Workbench disk press
“F12” and Left Click the “floppy drive” tab and add the “Workbench
3.0” adf file. Make sure this is “Workbench 3.0” not “3.1”. I don’t
know why but Classic Workbench doesn’t work with 3.1.
Follow the setup procedure and instructions adding or omitting
features as you see fit. I use the following setup:
o StackAttack – Disable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
o StackAttack – Enable
Once the installation is complete press “F12” and press “Restart” not
“Reset”.
Left Click “Add Hard Drive” select the 8 GB compact flash drive in the
drop down menu. Make sure the HD controller is set to IDE0.
Remove the floppy disk file and click “Start”.
Once Workbench has loaded up Left Click the “Run” folder, then on
the “Dopus” Icon.
Now Left Click the right hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “Workbench”.
Now Left Click the left hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then click “System”.
Left Click “All” then click “Copy”.

Wait for all the files to finish copying over then press “F12”. Remove
both hard drives then click “Add Hard Drive” select the 8 GB compact
flash drive in the drop down menu. Make sure the HD controller is set
to IDE0. Workbench is now installed on the SD card.
Left Click “Add Directory or Achieve”.
Enter device name as “work”.
Enter volume name as “work”.
Left Click “Select directory” and browse the “work” folder you have
created on your PC.
Uncheck “Bootable”.
Left Click “OK”.
Press “Restart” not “Reset”. Press “Start”.

3.5.0 Format Partition 2 (DH1)


Open “System”.
Open “Shell”.
Type “cd work:sfs/smartfilesystem” press Enter.
Type “sfsformat drive DH1: name Games” press Enter.
Press Enter again.

3.6.0 Patching Partitions for Large Hard Drive Support


Open “System”.
Open “Shell”.
Type “version scsi.device” press Enter.
“scsi.device 37.64” should be displayed.
In Workbench Left Click the “Run” folder, then on the “Dopus” Icon.
Now Left Click the right hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “System”, then Left Click “Devs”
Now Left Click the left hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “work”, then Left Click “Amiga-LargeHD-28”, then
Left Click “A1200IDE.scsi.device”
Left Click “Copy”.
Left Click “A1200IDE.scsi.device” now in the right hand
window/System folder and then Left Click “Rename”
“Rename” “A1200IDE.scsi.device” to “A1200IDE.scsi.device”
Press “F12” and the Left Click “Reset”.
Once back in the Workbench environment open “System”.
Open “Shell”.
Type “version scsi.device” press Enter.
“scsi.device 43.24” should now be displayed.

3.7.0 Add WHDload Games

Download the WHDload game packs, they can be downloaded from
here: http://kg.whdownload.com/kgwhd/
I have notice that not all games are within these packs (e.g.
Supercars) so to find additional WHDload games try here:

Unzip the contents of each pack in to the relevant alphabetic folder
but leave the individual games in zip files. I have saved empty
alphabetic folder directory here:

Open WinUAE and setup up in the following way:

Hardware

RAM
Add 8 MB of Fast RAM to maximum setup time.

Floppy Drive

Add Workbench 3.0 – Workbench disk.

Left Click “Add Hard Drive” select the 8 GB compact flash drive in the drop
down menu. Make sure the HD controller is set to IDE0.
Left Click “Add Directory or Achieve”.
Enter device name as “whd”.
Enter volume name as “whd”.
Left Click “Select directory” and browse the “whd” folder you have created
on your PC.
Uncheck “Bootable”.
Left Click “OK”.

Click “start”.
In Workbench click the “Run” folder, then on the “Dopus” Icon.
Now Left Click the right hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “Games” (i.e. the partition on the SD card/CF card
where you want to store your games).
Now Left Click the left hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “iGames images…..” TO DO
Click “All” then click “Copy”.
Wait for all the files to finish copying over, this adds the file structure
and game preview images to your partition on your newly created hard
drive.
Now Left Click the right hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “Games”, then Left Click “0_9”.

Now Left Click the left hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “whd”, Left Click “0_9”, Left Click “All” and then
Left Click “Arc Ext”.
Carry out this same process for all the folders/alphabet within this
folder.

3.8.0 Add All Kickstarts for WHDload Games


In order to run all games within the WHDload directory some missing
kickstarts are require to be copied into the Dev directory.

In Workbench click the “Run” folder, then on the “Dopus” Icon.


Now Left Click the right hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “System”, then Left Click “Devs”.
Now Left Click the left hand window, then Right Click the “S” button
and then Left Click “work”, then Left Click “WHDload Kickstarts”.
Click “All” then click “Copy”.

3.9.0 WHDload Games Directory


As the games have been installed on another partition and not on the
Workbench partition WHDload will not be able to locate them in the default
directory. To rectify this follow these steps:

On the Workbench screen hover the mouse over the title bar at the top
and hold Right Click, navigate to “Settings > Startup > Assign” then
release Right Click.
Change the line… “Assign >NIL: A-Games: SYS:Games” to
“Assign >NIL: A-Games: Games”

Hover the mouse over the title bar at the top and hold Right Click,
navigate to “Save” then release Right Click.
Quit out of this window and go back to the Workbench screen, now
restart Workbench, Press “F12” then Left Click “Restart” OR it can
also be done by pressing the following keyboard shortcut.
TODO/Amiga Windows..
When Workbench reloads Double Left Click “Drawers”, Left Click “Add
Files” then left click “AddGames”. Wait for the process to complete
then “Hit return to exit…”
Left Click “RUN ->”, Left Click “WHDLoad” then Left Click “iGame”,
iGame can also be accessed by pressing the following keyboard
shortcut. TODO.
Within the iGame window that opens Right Click on the title bar at the
top then under “Actions” Left Click on “Scan Repositories”.
Volia, your games are ready to play, Double Left Click one and away
you go ;). Enjoy.
