"The Impact of Technology in Pre-School Education": Language and Research (CCENG - 4)

This document appears to be an action research proposal presented by Joshua D. Señarosa at Northern Zambales College investigating the impact of technology in pre-school education. The introduction discusses how technology could help address issues of overcrowded classrooms and engage modern students. However, it also notes technology may negatively impact students' health. The literature review cites previous studies finding that technology can positively impact students' social, emotional, physical and cognitive development when appropriately integrated, but may also revolutionize early childhood classrooms. The proposal seems aimed at helping administrators decide the best approach to teaching young learners and how technology may motivate them.

ABSTRACT

Modernization of modality of teaching in this era is essential needs as schools

institutions tend to over populated with never ending enrollees, most of professional
believe that modernization of classroom methodology of teaching is a must. And it
would benefits both teacher and the learners in many ways including the continuing
problems like over-crowded classroom with no comfort at all. But some professional
also believe that modernization is not as essential as we see it traditional way of
teaching is much more needed rather than modernization of it.

Many study shows the benefits and the downside of this topic, some of the
benefits of modernization is time management of both teacher and the learners, from
walking every day a year for 5 minutes, changing classrooms we consume a precious
time of the learners, but in an online class we can manage exact time to open without
sacrificing a single minute of the learners. The common behavior of a learner that is
being late, can also mange in an online class. However, after all of this benefit online
classes have downside too. Like for example, No physical interactions that can make
the class alive and participative unlike the traditional way. These disadvantages are also
the reason this study is still ongoing.

However the use of ICT-tools in pre-school learners have its good and have a
bad side to it, this study should help the administrators decide what is the better way
of teaching the young learners. And how can it impact the motivation of the learners
towards a better learning inside the school premises.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

thank you all for your advices and ideas in this study, without you all this study won’t
be finished.

Also to my BEED-IV family I want to say thank you for their willingly helpful hand
to accomplish the best in this study.

To our Action research instructor, Sir Benjamin Paner, I thank you for your never
ending advices about this research. I want to also thank you for the knowledge we
acquire doing this study, without a proper guidance and your advices, ideas and
leadership we might never learned how to make a research paper, with that a never
ending thanks to you.

INTRODUCTION

This study will show the impact of technology in the pre-school learners how it
will change the modality of teaching, how it can help young learners to be more
competitive. However, this study will also show the negative impact of technology in
early childhood especially in health of the learners.

In an answer to a very fast-growing population around the world, this study is

meant to act as an aid to the congestion of students in a single school. And the idea of
how ICT-literacy can be the answer to what the world is facing towards overpopulation
in school, community, nation, and even worldwide, this problem can be a hindrance
towards effective learning. This study will show how can we act earlier and won't spoil
those precious times of the learners. And also this study will answer what will be the
impact of technology in pre-school education.

Education is great in all aspects we look, but developing it makes it more reliable
and effective, but going to the next level comes with a great cost. The study done by
Bc. Viera Boumová in 2008, indicates that for learner's modern methodology is more
motivating than traditional methodology. This study will show that past students were
in their pre-school days, they learn in reading books and dictionary, but today learners
preferred using gadgets to learn and multi-task; If we still stick to what we are used to
we cannot be efficient nor effective in teaching soon. Because, the students of this era
are additionally inspired using ICT-tools than to those past ones.

So why can't we accept the better world of technology? Is it because we lack

financial capability? Or is it on the student's capability to use and master technology in
a short time. Maybe, that the classroom has the biggest impact on the learners in terms
of molding their dreams in the future. Like what Ryan Hannah stated in his study in
2013, he said that The Effect of Classroom Environment on Student Learning that a
classroom is a place where the students gain more knowledge and it is the place where
they discover what they wanted to become in the future. But on the bright side of
developing the traditional way of delivering the lesson there are these benefits, like
real-time communication, makes you possible to see your learners doing, when you are
talking in front of them, that can make them more attentive and focused to what you
have said.

E-learning conditions let knowledge to be acquired in a situation that is not

confined by conditions such as place and time. This idea that online learning is not
affected by the settings of where the students want to learn this might be the answer
to an overcrowded institution, especially public elementary schools, also colleges, and
universities. This is stated by Brittany Gilbert in his study conducted in 2015, he
indicates that online learning environments allow for learning to occur in a setting that
is not restricted by place or time.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Having a technology inside the classroom results to enriching the learners social
emotional, emotional, physical, cognitive, language, mathematics, and literacy skills.
According to Krista Werling in her study conducted on summer year 2020. Using
technology in the classroom effects the development of students in the areas of (a)
social emotional, (b) physical, (c) cognitive, (d) language, (e) mathematics, and (f)
literacy skills in early childhood.

When planned, selected, integrated, and evaluated appropriately, technological

tools had positive effects on the learning and development of children (Quesenberry et
al., 2016). Using technology has much positive impact when planned and selected
properly in childhood education.

According to Kerrie Lynn Willmann in her study conducted in Walden University

year 2017, technology has revolutionized the early childhood classroom. Among these
technologies are educational software programs that hold great promise in helping
children develop early literacy skills. So technology can revolutionized an institution
when used properly and planned well

A Filipina researcher Mary Grace C. Nueva from La Salle in her study conducted
on February 2019, she stated that Technology has been widely used for instructional
support as presentation aid, enhancement of lesson delivery and assessment.
Technology as a learning tool to promote communication and collaboration between
teachers and students and, students to students are less examined.
