 INTRODUCTION::
INTRODUCTION The auditorium was a unique project
where the primary design brief was that it
should have a “WOW” effect. Since the auditorium was for one of the premier ed-
ucational institutes of the country ideas that were not previously attempted for audi-
torium designing in India were explored. The task was made even more challenging
since this was supposed to be one of the largest auditoriums in the country and the
largest in South India, with about 2500 seats

lighting and stage equipement:
Multiple stage lighting and equipment solutions were implemented including a dedicated Light Bridge for
FOH Lighting, multiple overhead lighting options on motorized bars including Spots, Cyclorama lights,
Cool-lights and Tele-climbers. Main, mid and rear curtains were provided to enable multi-use of the stage
space. Above stage motorized utility bars give added flexibility for suspending scenery, banners, mics, and
other props. On-stage AV and power connectivity were provided through floor boxes for additional equip-
ment like laser lighting, fog machines, monitor speakers, prompter screens and microphones..
The illumination for the auditorium was
provided with a complicated mixture of
spotlights, ceiling mounted units and
on-stage lights. light bridge at the stage for illumination the arcs focus loudspeaker system used to proj-

 stage flooring:
the stage uses timber flooring to reduce the noise transmission to tolerable levels. An acoustic lay-
er is usually laid under the timber veneer flooring to absorb the sound waves to a certain degree
.the layer reduces vibrations of lower sound frequencies to prevent the vibration of slabs and walls
by lower sound frequencies.the depth of the floor slab and the perimeter of the floor affects the ab-
sorption of low frequency.this occurs because sound waves have the ability to travel through floors
                                                   and walls into adjacent spaces
carpet flooring:
carpet is an outstanding sound absorber which serves as an acoustical aid as well as a
floor cover. carpet absorbs air borne noise as efficiently as other specialised acoustical
materials. rubber underlay further improves absorbtion.carpet is also wrapped around
all the steps along the aisles of the auditorium to reduce the noise produced by the
footsteps of people walking up and down

HVAC SYSTEM:
The basic principle of air conditioning is that it is an exchange of indoor and outdoor air, whereby it ex-
tracts heated indoor air and sends it outdoors and vice versa .The auditorium utilizes mechanical ventilla-
                                          tion and air conditioning system
The College Auditorium was divided into six HVAC zones -the Back Rooms, Backstage, Front Rooms,
Main Lobby, Mechanical Room, and Stage.
CAV system was used to service the Stage area, as the occupancy in this area is greater, which will re-
quired constant ventilation and air circulation, and the heating or cooling temperature remains consis-
tent. The use of the CAV system will assure the best thermal comfort and efficient air changes for this
large space. The remainder of the building will be serviced with a VAV system to enable greater individual
                                          control from space to space.
