What is grammar?
"Grammar," which comes from
Latin, means the scientific study of
the form and arrangement of
words, phrases, and sentences.
Every language has a grammar
(even if that language is not
written); every language has its
own patterns.
WHAT IS LANGUAGE?
According to Merriam-Webster
Dictionary, language is the words,
their pronunciation, and the
methods of combining them used
and understood by a community.
Language, a system of
conventional spoken, manual
(signed), or written symbols by
means of which human beings, as
members of a social group and
participants in its culture, express
themselves.
WHY DO WE USE LANGUAGE?
Language allows us to share our ideas,
thoughts, and feelings with others. It
has the power to build societies, but
also tear them down.

WHAT IS GRAMMATICAL ANALYSIS?
Just as biologists can label parts
of plants and can sort animals into
groups, grammarians can label
parts of speech and can sort
sentences into patterns.
Grammatical analysis or
grammatical parse is the process
of correlating the line sequence of
lexemes (words) of the language
with its formal grammar.
In order to understand
grammatical analysis, the student
must learn a certain amount of
terminology. Confusion arises
when these terms are not
accurately understood. There are
three basic things going on during
English grammar analysis: level,
label, and function.

“Your grammar is a
reflection of your image.
Good or bad, you have made
an impression. And like all
impressions, you are in
total control.”
