4.2 Local Generator Tools

The current generator service is managed by a user or technician in the image system PC
 (FL-C) under the key words "Local Generator Tools". Future generator service version will
be managed by the image system PC (FL-C).

Beware of unintentionally moving basic system software data. When you use the mouse
in the service menus, it is possible that you will unintentionally move files or folders to

 an unknown path. There is no notification of this on-screen. One possible outcome is

that the next PC boot will fail. As a consequence, you must do a full restore using the
most recent good GHOST. See the Cios Select CB-DOC, chapter Installation / FLUORO‐
SPOT Compact / Software on the CS Intranet (Print Number AX41-060.816.14).

 Always use connected hardware -- a mouse -- for navigation in the service soft‐
ware.

4.2.1 Generator service usage

To check and change any generator values, the hardware "SERV" switch must be in posi‐
tion "2". The switch is located in the D610 board.

 n

n
Position 1: Normal position. Generator communicates with MCU. Radiation available.
Position 2: Service Active position. The generator communicates with Local Genera‐
tor Tools, where generator values can be read and changed. No Radiation available.

 While the service button is OFF, all values are displayed as "0”.

Values in this chapter are not default or suggested values. Some values shown are based

 on:
- Customized individual settings

Adjusted values are saved to the generator CPU. In the event data are lost with a CPU
board replacement or an upgrade to firmware, there is no complete backup file for the

 most recent adjustment values.

Suggestion:
Use screen shots to capture various adjustments.

4.5 Radiation triggering

4.5.1 Requirements regarding radiation triggering

Before radiation can be triggered, the following requirements must be met:
n A patient, at least an emergency patient, must be created.
n An organ program must be selected.
n Sufficient hard disk space must be available for data acquisition.
n Ready must be signaled by a green bar on the displays.
n The generator must be ready for exposure:
n The 20 mA loop must be closed by pressing the radiation triggering button (hand
switch or foot switch).
n Foot switch or hand switch pressed.
n The displays must show no errors.
n Tube must not be too hot.
n C-arm and matching trolley are connected.
n System is below maximum skin dose and maximum fluoro time or the warning(s)
have been confirmed.

5.1 Dose Control

Fig. 71: Dose Control

Basic Flow:
n The sequence starts when the imaging system (FL-C) sends a frame request.
n The STU activates the X-ray trigger for the X-ray window defined for this frame rate.
n Generator activates X-ray
n The generator stops when the mAs value that has been calculated on the basis of the
previous brightness value (Bsignal value) has been reached or when the pulse time
has reached the max value.
n After the end of the X-ray window the image is transferred to image chain.
n The image chain calculates the actual dose value from the image brightness and
sends this to the generator
n The generator calculates the dose control parameter.
In Cios Select, the timing control unit in the generator (STU board) actively triggers the
generator and camera. The FLC application sends the brightness value from image chain
to generator.
The generator sends acquisition data via XCU to FLC for display and dose record.

5.2 Dose level gain setting

5.2.1 Gain factor calculation

The gain factor is calculated according to parameter additional fluoro gain , dose level
factor and basic gain:

Gain factor = (B*(100 +A)%)/D

n B is the basic gain, is set in factory, and can be checked in the configuration file C:
\Addon\IC\CCDCam_DHECC.xml with key “BasicGain”.
n A is the additional fluoro gain, and can be set in the FLC service
page( 1/Fig. 72 Page 75)
n D is the dose level factor, can be set in the FLC service page( 2/Fig. 72 Page 75)

For S3P (Cios Select), the parameter D (dose factor) is determined only by the dose level,
regardless of the value configured manually in the FLC. This value is 60% for low dose

 level, 100% for mid dose level and 200% for high dose level. The configuration in the
FLC service page( 2/Fig. 72 Page 75) will not be applied to the program.
The dose level can be selected via the Dose button( 4/Fig. 75 Page 77) on the CCP.

To access the page for setting A and D:

8.4.3.3 Flight recorder description

The flight recorder represents an independent module that is used to log the complete
AXCS telegram traffic in the system. In addition to continuous logging of telegrams in
separate log files, the current status of the system can also be reported by certain prede‐
fined events or can be triggered by the user. These logs are stored in separate folders.
According to the new flight recorder concept, flight recorder messages – log entries with
severity "M“ – are stored in separate flight recorder-related files and not in the application
log file (FlCompact.log).
In principle, the flight recorder represents the functionality of an ACSOS trace tool. The
flight recorder starts automatically during system startup if this option was configured in
FL-C Service.
Severity Type M (Monitoring): Telegram messages are logged if the flight recorder has
been activated.

n Test Patterns
When this test is selected, you can feed test patterns on the different function boards
into the image chain. In all cases, the test patterns must be visible on the live monitor.
The following two entry points for the test pattern are used to check whether the I.I.
image pipeline is working properly.
- [1] Camera -> GPU
This is used to check the status of the image chain parts from the camera to GPU
board. A simulated test image or a live image will be created by the camera (see
Live mode, above) and processed to the GPU.
- [2] GPU
Image post-processing board self-test A simulated image will be processed to the
GPU.
The test patterns will be in the following two image modes.
- Digital
Camera digital CCD test A digital test pattern is used to test the camera
- Live Mode
The live camera image is displayed directly.
This option is only provided if the test pattern entry point [1] Camera -> GPU is se‐
lected.
If Test Pattern entry point [2] GPU has been selected, the “Live Mode” option is not
selectable and the "Digital" option is selected automatically.

Start Tests
- Activate the Test Patterns radio button.
- Select the Entry Point and Image mode.
- Click Start.
- Click Stop Test to cancel the test
While the test is running, the viewer always sees the resulting images on the live
monitor.
- Rotation: Rotates the displayed image in steps of 90 degrees. The default is 0 de‐
grees.
- Stop Test: Cancels the last test sequence performed.
