Mysore NRW Assessment for 24x7 Water

This document assesses non-revenue water (NRW) in Mysore City, India to help accomplish 24/7 water supply. It focuses on calculating NRW in district metered areas supplied by the Kabini River. Water balance is established based on collected data and losses. The system input volume from bulk flow meters is compared to billed authorized consumption and unbilled volumes to calculate NRW of 28.12%, including commercial and physical losses. Reducing NRW can help ensure a continuous water supply.

Abstract: Non-Revenue water (NRW) is the difference between System Input Volume (SIV) and billed authorized
consumption. This paper is focussed on calculating NRW in the District Metered Areas (DMAs) of Mysore city to which
River Kabini is the source of water supply. Kabiniriver supplies water to 17 DMAs, regions of Dattagalli, MUDA Layout
and Bank Colony in Mysore. Water balance for this distribution network is established based on the collected data and

losses.
Key Words: Non-Revenue Water (NRW), System Input volume, Physical losses, Commercial losses, Water balance.
