The Oromia Regional State has allocated sufficient budget for the Construction and
Construction Supervision and Contract Administration ofDabena River Bridge under URRAP
LOT I River Bridge.
Dabena River Bridge and Approach road Project: is located in BunoBedele zone
BedelezuriyaWoreda of Oromia Regional state at geographical location of (935131.940)
Northing and (208261.250) Easting. The project site can be reached after driving about 351Km
from Finfinne across Finfinne –Jimma main road and drive about 140 km from Jimma across
Jimma- Bedele road and then 6 km driving from the Bedele town to the project site.
The project involves the construction of 25m span length bridge project the crossing structure
will have a great impact in enhancing social and economic activities of the local population. The
main economic activity of the population is agriculture; both crop production and animal
husbandry activity predominantly prevail in all parts of the project areas with high degree of
productivity. But the community, and land use study teams are suffering due to lack of access
of transportation so that this area is proposed for investment that the Regional Government of
Oromia represented by Oromia Rode Authority (ORA), recognizing the urgent need of
enhancing agricultural and other used areas accessed for transportation, need the design of the
bridge to be under the plans of the proposed road projects.
According to the urgent need of the road of the Regional Government, to support farmers to
supply agricultural products for market, get public service and to open the area for investment,
has decided to intervene in the design of the project that project that upon provision of the
performance guarantee in accordance with the requirement of the condition of contract for the
consulting services for the Detailed Engineering Design and supervision on Bridge design on
Bedelezuriyaworeda.
2. SUMMARY OF REPORT
2.1. A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE REPORTING MONTH
This report summarized the overall project status and activities carried out for

ü Production Selected granular selected material for Borrow fill & backfill
ü Borrow to fill, compaction to 93% MDD, AASHTO T-180.
ü Compacted granular fill
ü Class-A cement mortared stone masonry walls
ü Preparation of bridge area for construction of the bridge slab
2.2. A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKS PLAN & ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE REPORTING
MONTH
As shown on table 2.2.1 the contractor work accomplishment is 80.70% of work plan
on this reporting monththe progress of the work is good according to the schedule
and planthe contractor used man power effectively.
The consulting firm ordered the contractor to get this construction material from other site and
its advices enough stock balance for the next construction purpose.
2.4. QUALITY OF WORK AND MATERIAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN TO RECTIFY PROBLEM. IF ANY
For the purpose of this project, the supervision staff shall consider quality as the process as well
as the end product of the works to achieve the desired function it includes but not limited to
strength, durability, serviceability and maintainability, the Technical Specification and the
Engineering Drawings. So that the supervisory staff using the main project personnel (who will
either permanently reside at site or who will work intermittently) are composed of professionals
and sub-professionals seriously supervised the quality of construction work based on the quality
of professional manpower, methodology of the construction work method and also the quality of
material involves the monitoring of the materials production, stock piling, hauling, placing and
compaction activities. Therefore, process control is more of inspection whereas product control
is more of in-situ testing.
2.5. CONTRACTUAL MATTERS (VARIATIONS, CLAIMS. ETC.)
2.5.1. VARIATIONS:
The contractor finish the contract period & the consultant ask the contractor to request time
extension with the required justification and crushed work schedule but the contractor not
summited time extension & new crushed schedule.
There were no any accidents occurred on both the contractors and supervision team on the
project area for this reporting month.
The project area annually rainy season area but there is no rain on the project on this reporting
month.
2.8. SITE VISIT
Staff using the main project personnel (who will either permanently reside at site or who will
work intermittently), but the main staff of the such as the resident engineer (R.E) site visit on
day Feb/27/ 2021G.c
The contractor has collected an advance money which is 20% of their contract amount as per
the oral information we obtained from the counterpart (we requested the Client to provide
us all such data’s as the Contractor has signed an agreement before we commence the
supervision service) without providing an advance payment guarantee form as this
Contractor is also governmental enterprise.
The Contractor will start to repay the advance repayment starting from the first installment
and ends before the payment reached 80%.
