STUDENT FORUM 2021

February 27, 2021 via ZOOM

ONLINE SYSTEM – CELO+

 The registration of subjects are always late, at least two weeks late. Other classes are
already starting and they find it difficult to catch up for the two weeks of discussions.
o Ma’am Rhoya – The students’ registration of subjects was assigned to
their respective colleges and/or department. The EDP department are
basing on the official lists of enrolled students in the new online
registration system which is the Cesis. Then, we will directly register the
student to Celo+ system.
 Celo+ notifications are inconsistent. There are times that Celo+ fails to notify students
regarding new posts such as an assignment even “Notification Setting” is turned on.
o Mr. Dela Cerna – Make it a habit to check the assignments in Celo+ for
any updates because celo+ will not always give notifications if there are
new assignments most probably if the teacher and/or instructor didn’t
make it visible to the student.
o Ma’am Viannery – With Celo+, the only notification that the student will
receive is if it is an announcement that was created by the faculty. So if the
faculty will post an assignment or quiz item, it will not be notified unless
we select “Publish to Calendar”, but generally we don’t make notifications
for that. For the assignments and quizzes it is the students’ responsibility
to constantly check all the tabs in the Celo+ if there are any assignments
posted.
o Mr. Coligado – Another notification for the student to check is
“Subscription to Discussion Boards or forums”, the student should
subscribe to it and if that forum or board has an assignment then the
student will be able to see the notification if there’s a new post in that
discussion board. As well as the instant messaging and email, they will
receive a notification in it. It has to be configured in the calendar so that it
will be notified.
o Dr. Gruet – So, to all students concerned about this matter must coordinate
with your faculty member or dean so that you will be notified for the
assignments posted.
BUSINESS OFFICE
 Courtesy in dealing with answering the inquiries and concerns of the students via phone
call.
o Ma’am Rockie – In behalf of my colleagues, I would like to give an
apology to those who have experienced this uncourteous acts, this will be
address internally with our department head.
 Payments done at MLhuilier are not deducted immediately in the total tuition fee.
o Ma’am Rockie – Right now, we are in the process of changing from old
accounting system to the new accounting system and it takes time. So
what happened to those payments that are not deducted immediately are
posted to the old program and right now we are working on transferring
the payments to the new accounting system. Reassured that all payments
have been posted, only that it is not yet visible for now.
 Payment for tuition fees/school fees were not reflected in the system. Some students need
clarification on details/breakdown of the school fees.
o Ma’am Rockie – Still the reason is the program. Some maybe be reflected
already, so you may check your pinnacle account under “My Accounts”.
For those who haven’t seen yet their payments, you may call the
Accounting Office or email us your proof of payment directly through
cdubalanceinquiry@gmail.com for double checking and posting.
o Dr. Gruet – For our students, we would like to beg for your indulgence,
please be patient because we are migrating from the old “medsis system”
to the new “cesis system”. This will take time because of the many data
that have to be moved from the old to new system but we are confident
that within this semester everything will already migrated so there should
be no problems.
o
TUITION FEE
 Why is the tuition fee still the same or has increased even when the classes are online and
there are no school facilities used. Lessen tuition fee and miscellaneous fees especially in
clinics since facilities are not being used by the students. For those students who are not
using the facilities, appeal for deduction of laboratory fees since unable to use the
laboratory facilities. We are required to buy the portable control box and we’re paying
times two the price (laboratory fee + portable unit).
o Dr. Larrazabal – There is no tuition fee increase for the Academic Year
2021-2022.
o Mr. Dipay – Those students’ who are using the laboratories can write us a
formal letter to inform us that they are not using it and it can be deducted
to their fees in the laboratories.
SCHOLARSHIP
 Will scholarships, Dean’s list and President’s list apply during the covid pandemic?
o Dr. Larrazabal – Yes
SCHOOL ID

 Freshmen students would like to have a school ID. They need a valid Student ID in order
to avail of some discounts and for bank documentation and other transactions.
o Ma’am Rhoya – The EDP department will look into this. The signatures
for the ID is a bit complicated to get.
o Dr. Gruet – The student who are within Metro Cebu can come to the
campus to take their ID and for those who are outside Metro Cebu can
wait for the face to face class. The signatures can be done through
scanning it of a minimum resolution.

COVID -19 VACCINATION

 Would CDU have COVID-19 vaccination available for the CDU students? If there is,
would it be possible for CDU to support or provide discounts for students who will get
COVID-19 vaccinations at CDU?
o Dr. Larrazabal – The vaccine is not yet arrived, estimated arrival will be this
coming June or July and we will coordinate to the CDUH for this since we don’t
have the exact price yet of the vaccine.
 Would it be possible to acquire the vaccine at a lower price or even get it free for the
students? Because according to the news if a private establishments purchases Novavax,
they only but it for ₱1,000.00 per dose.
o
COVID-19 SWAB TESTING
 Would CDU have COVID 19 swab testing available for the CDU students upon
resumption of face to face sessions? If there is, would it be possible for CDU to support
or provide discounts for students who will get swab testing at CDU?
o Dr. Larrazabal – 14th day quarantine and swab testing is not yet a requirement.

ONLINE PHYSICAL CONSULTATION FOR INTERNS

 Would CDU provide an online physical exam/consultation for incoming interns? As
physical exam is a requirement for incoming interns and some interns are outside of
Cebu, would it be possible for them to have their labs (X-Ray, Stool, Urinalysis, CBC,
etc.) at their respective places, have the results and discuss it online with the University
Physician?
o Dr. Munoz – The students or interns who wish to have their Physical Consultation
and/or consultation, they can reach us through our online clinic - AJ Munoz-
Ramada.

GUIDELINES AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

 When will CDU release detailed guidelines and state the safety protocols and
contingency plan of the University for Gradual Transition to face to face classes and
internships in the future?
o Mr. Simbajon – We will set another date for the consultation of parents and
students to discuss about the CDU guidelines and safety protocols.

ACADEMIC
 Need for more training for some teachers in using Celo+ to prevent confusions when
giving instructions to students (exams and assignments).
o
 Some instructors’ gave an activity that requires students to go outside their houses to do
such as like interviews. Is it too risky to do that since the COVID 19 pandemic is not yet
over?
o Mr. Simbajon – This concern should be discuss to the concerned deans or
department for them to be able to fix this concern of the student.

ONLINE LIBRARY

 Integrating into the LMS the e-books (textbook and reference) to be used for the students.
o Ma’am Baco - The students can access the online library through Cebu Doctors’
University Learning Integration

ANOTHER VIRTUAL CLASSROOM

 Possibility of having another Virtual Classroom platform integrated into LMS.

UNIVERSITY EMAIL ADDRESS

 We should have a university email address. Some students were given the university.edu
email while some don’t have one. This is so that they can access free online content,
software or apps (e.g. canvas).
