Effective Management of Food Wastage System Through Iot

This document proposes an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system to effectively manage food wastage through donation. The system uses sensors to monitor food levels and quality in containers. If food is still good, a warning light turns green and the food's details are uploaded to an online portal to match with donors and receivers. This helps reduce food waste by enabling easy donation of leftover food. The system aims to provide a platform to donate excess food and reduce wastage.

OBJECTIVES
• The proposed system provides a platform for
donating leftover food to all needy
people/organization.

• It is an effective mean of donating the left

over food through the internet.

• This system reduce the wastage of food.

INTRODUCTION
EMBEDDED SYSTEM
• An embedded system is a combination of
specially designed hardware and software.
IOT
• The Internet Of Things refers to the ever
growing network of physical objects.
• A network of internet connected objects
able to collect and exchange data.

22/9/2020 3
EXISTING SYSTEM
• People are willing to donate excess food but
there is no option for communication.

• Food wastage in restaurants, hostels are

mostly used to produce bio gas.

• The remaining food is used by the registered

organisation.
22/9/2020 4
PROPOSED SYSTEM
• The proposed application food donation
portal is an internet based application that
provides a platform for donating left over
food.

• It acts as a bridge between food donor and

the receiver.

• Food is accessible to general public.

METHODOLOGIES
• In this system the food container box is to be
created.

• The system monitors the quantity of food

using IR sensor.

• The system monitors the quality of food using

gas sensor.
22/9/2020 7
• The data of the sensor are fed to the
microcontroller.

• Based on the output of the microcontroller, if

the warning light indicate red the food is not
present in the tray if it indicate green the food
is present in the food container.

CONCLUSION
• Since the food will spoil soon, future
implementation of the project may include
food freezing system.

• In future drones(land or flying) can also pick

up excess food and help deliver them to
matched consumer.
