The Association of Philippine Medical Colleges,
Inc. (APMCI) is the umbrella organization of all
medical schools in the country.
Aims to define the standards and guidelines to

promote quality medical education in the
Philippines.
The Internship Matching Program and the
Postgraduate Internship (PGI) Program is currently
managed by the Association of Philippine Medical
Colleges, Inc. (APMCI) with delegated authority from
the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through
its Technical Committee for Medical Education
(TCME).
In 2001, APMCI National Internship Program
Committee was formed to review the internship
program and conducted consultations with hospital
officials to discuss how the program can be improved
which resulted to the changes in the guidelines and
policies of the program.
In 2004, the Manual of the National Internship
Program was published.
New electronic National Internship Program System

(eNIPs) was incorporated as a web-based matching
procedure.

The medical school must submit as soon as

students who did not graduate or complete
the requirements for graduation.

APMCI shall immediately inform the

hospital/health facility of the students who
did not graduate, to drop these students
from the roll of prospective PGIs.

Interns who are supposed to start internship on

July 1 should have completed all requirements
for graduation and submit their Certificate of
Graduation to the Hospital/Health Facility by
July 31. Likewise, to those who will start on
January 1 must submit their COG by January 31.

Interns who fail to submit their Certificate

of Graduation by July 31 or January 31, as
the case maybe, must be dropped from the
roll of interns by the hospital/health facility.

The Certificate of Graduation signed by the dean

of the medical school must be presented to the
hospital together with the Certificate for Medical
Internship at the start of Postgraduate Internship.
As such, any internship rotation completed before
the date of graduation shall be invalidated.

1. Transfer is discouraged and restricted but the rights of the interns shall not be curtailed.
2. Transfer shall be allowed only for valid reasons, such as, but not limited to:
2.1 Transfer of residence;
2.2 Problem of relationship with consultant/resident that cannot be reconciled by the
training officer;
2.3 and Threat to safety, health and well-being.
3. The incoming postgraduate interns shall be oriented on the policies and procedures by

Leave of Absence (LOA)
a PGI may apply for a leave of absence for plausible reason/s that would

1. Registering an Account in E-NIPS
1. Go to https://apmcf-ph.net/enips
2. Click the link “Register Account” (A) or “HERE” (B) at the
main page

3. Completely fill out the registration form. Please note that the picture
to be uploaded should be of quality and passport-standard.
4. Click the button “Submit User Registration Details”. Once submitted you
should be receiving a confirmation email of registration.
5. Your registration requires to be validated and approved by the

school before you may able to log into E-NIPS.
6. Once the school has approved your registration, you will be receiving an email
confirmation similar below:

Key Points to Remember
1. Register only if you are eligible to undergo internship (see

requirements)
2. Ensure that your correctness and completeness of your name. This is to
be submitted to PRC after the completion of internship
3. Make sure that you indicate the right email address
4. When uploading a picture, the suggested format is the one being used in
passports (i.e. white background with name). Avoid posting selfie, 1x1 full
body picture or overly filtered image
5. Only Filipino medical graduates are eligible to register in E-NIPS and
take internship
2. Initiating the Application Process
1. Complete the updating of personal details by clicking the “Update User
Profile” link at the top menu.
2. When updating your user profile, ensure that the password is re-entered
prior clicking “Update User Profile” button.
3. To apply for internship, click the link “Apply for Internship”.

4. Complete the entries for Birth Place Address, Parent/Guardian’s Name,

Parent/Guardian’s Address and Parent/Guardian’s Contact Number.

5.Select the internship period you will be applying for.
5.Select your hospital choices and rank them based on preference by

selecting the name of the hospital in the dropdown list.
8.You will only be seeing hospitals with open slots. The number of available
slots is denoted next to the name of the hospital.
8.You may select a maximum of three hospitals. The system prohibits

selection of same hospitals.

1. You can only apply for internship if your account registration is

approved.
2. Please indicate correct contact information (i.e. address, mobile
phone number)
3. Decide firmly on the hospitals that you will be choosing including
the order of preference. Changing hospital selections after
submission is not allowed especially if the hospitals are starting to
evaluate the credentials.
4. For applicants who have agreement with certain hospitals to take
internship to them (i.e. govt scholars, university hospital), select the
said hospital as first and only choice.
4. Processing of Documents
1. The application would then be forwarded to the medical school for

uploading of internship document requirements such as true copy of
grades and dean’s certification with class ranking.
1. Payment must be settled prior to the forwarding of application to

hospitals. APMC will upload proof of payment.
1. Once the three initial requirements were uploaded, APMC will

review and validate it. Once cleared, the application is then
forwarded electronically at the hospital.
4. Processing of Documents
1. At this juncture, the applicant will not be doing any more actions except to
monitor the status of his/her application
1. No applicant shall upload his / her credentials. The official uploads are
those coming from the medical school.
1. For the application to be electronically forwarded to the hospital

selections, three files are needed to be uploaded: 1. TCG, 2. Dean’s
certification with ranking and 3. Proof of payment
1. Proof of payment is provided by the school to APMC if it collectively pays for

its students. Otherwise, applicant must forward it to APMC.
5. Matching Proper
1. Applications that were forwarded by APMC shall appear at the user

interface of the hospital.
1. Hospitals shall have the full contact details of the applicant and can
download the true copy of grades and dean’s certification.
3. Hospitals will not be able to see his ranking among the choices of the
applicant.
3. There are 2 possible results that a hospital could record: Accepted OR Not
Accepted.
5. Matching Proper
5.The applicant will be matched to the highest ranked hospital that has
accepted his/her application. Being ACCEPTED does not necessarily that
is applicant is already MATCHED in the hospital.
5.FINAL MATCHING RESULT can be found at “Apply for Internship”

interface or when “View Results” is clicked.

1. How soon will the final matching results would be known?
a. Within the same round
• As soon as 1st hospital choice ACCEPTS
• As soon as 2nd hospital choice ACCEPTS (1st choice declines)

• Some applications remain PENDING all throughout the current round if

applicant. It will matched him/her to the highest rank among the lower
ranked hospitals.

1. I cannot log into E-NIPS despite using the right credentials. Why?
Your account might not have been approved yet. Check for the email
notification of approve and/or personally do a follow-up to the medical
school’s PGI staff.
2. I forgot my password. How can I reset it?

password shall be sent to your registered email.
3. Why is my application still not forwarded to the hospitals?

The three requirements (true copy of grades, dean’s certification and proof
of payment) must all be uploaded and validated prior to the forwarding of
application to the hospital.
4. I made a mistake in selecting hospital choices. Can it still be modified?
We recommend to always double check the hospital selection before
submitting. Write a letter of request to APMC Executive Director (Dr. Ramon
L. Arcadio) stating the reason for modification. The request is still due for
evaluation.
5. My classmates were already matched to hospital but mine remains

pending. How is that possible?
The speed of being matched varies depending on the promptness of
hospitals to record results and if the hospital chosen is a first choice. If the
application remains pending, it means that higher ranked hospitals have not yet
recorded results. FINAL MATCHING RESULTS will be known on or before the
start of the next round.
4. I was not matched in the 1st round, how can I apply for the 2nd round?
Log to your E-NIPS account and click “Apply for Internship”. In the
dropdown list of hospitals, you will be seeing hospitals with remaining slots
after 1st round. Select hospital choices. The application will immediately be
forwarded to the selected hospitals. No re-uploading and re-validation of
documents anymore since it has been done in the 1st round already.
5. I did not apply in the 1st round, can I register for the 2nd round instead?
Yes, of course. Procedures for 1st round application will still be followed
including documents uploading and validation.
6. I was not matched in the first two rounds, how can I apply in walk-in?
Log to E-NIPS to check the remaining slots after 2nd round. Unlike in the
first two rounds, you will not going to select hospitals from the system during
walk-in round. Secure a letter of endorsement from APMC then visit your
preferred hospital. Return the letter of acceptance to APMC for encoding into
E-NIPS.
7. Can I go directly to hospitals without going through E-NIPS?

No. At the end of the internship application period, APMC generates the
list of matched internship applicants and submit it to PRC. If you are not in
E-NIPS, then you are not be included in the PRC report.
