Officers Carey and Rigney responded to a 911 call reporting a fight in progress in an alley. Upon arrival, they found a semi-conscious woman saying pleas for help. INCIDENT REPORT

Car number 55
Officers: Peter Carey, #1951; Robert Rigney, #1955

April 13, 2011, at 0137 AM -- Received from 911 dispatch


report of fight in progress in alley next to 2525 W. Royko.
Arrived at 0140 AM. Found W/F down in alley, semiconscious,
saying “Don’t,” “Help,” and “Pat.” She did not respond to
questions. Called for ambulance and secured scene. Observed
blood on victim’s face and neck. Witness #1, one Mickey Cullen,
came out of store on east side and identified victim as
“Wanda,” a co-worker at store. Cullen reported having made
earlier 911 call. Witness #2, Karol Caesar, resides across street
at 2526 W. Royko, also called 911, saw fight.

Ambulance arrived at 0144, transported victim.

First witness: Mickey Cullen. Heard victim shouting for help


shortly after 0130. Cullen had arrived at work at adjacent
bakery "Bread’s Up." Victim was not reporting for work, as
victim works later in the day. We informed Cullen to come into
police station and file a statement with warrant officer. Cullen
could not leave work but promised to come in at 1000. Cullen
recognized voice of victim as “Wanda Smith" or "Wanda Bruja"
but could not recognize other voice because it was not as loud.

Second witness: Karol Caesar. Saw event from apartment


across the street (2526 W. Royko, 2d floor). Heard screams,
looked out window. Saw people fighting in alley. Called 911.
Recognized one voice as belonging to a bakery employee,
“Wanda,” who was shouting “Stop,” “Help,” and “No.” Caesar
identified self as law student working with State’s Attorney’s
office. Advised Caesar to come to police station and make
report. Caesar agreed.

Probable charges: battery, public fighting, disorderly conduct.

Refer to warrant officer for misdemeanor complaint or possible


felony charges. Investigate further for Perp.
