LANDSCAPE
INTERIOR
Cambridge Architectural Landscape Interior systems distinguish large interior open spaces with a graceful presence.
Landscape Interiors enhance heating, ventilating and air conditioning, provide a relatively open view, promote security,
guide foot traffic, permit space sculpting and perform as decorative interior facades.
Landscape Interior systems also offer an excellent opportunity to use a play of lighting on the metal fabric surface to
add excitement and drama to the space. Additionally, light from LCD projectors can display video information directly
onto the highly reflective metal fabric surface.
Cambridge Architectural Landscape
Interior systems enhance the effects of
dramatic lighting, articulation, texture,
and the beauty of other materials used
within the space. That’s because metal
fabric is attractive to the eye, without
having to be the attraction itself.
Cambridge Architectural’s team of engineers and architects help you quickly turn your concept into a workable, functional
reality by defining your application, identifying the appropriate attachment methods and selecting the compatible palette
of metal fabric patterns. Assistance includes complete installation details, framing design, load characteristics and other
pertinent information. Approval drawings can also be offered depending upon the project’s scope and requirements.
Cambridge Architectural engineers are also available for on-site installation supervision.
Cambridge Architectural’s fabrication department provides framing, binding, forming and bending or can refer you to a
nationwide network of competent distributors and installers.

SYSTEMS
The specification process starts by identifying the
appropriate Cambridge Architectural system. These
systems are defined by the primary function the
metal fabric will serve in your design.
SYSTEMS
The primary function of Cambridge Architectural Facade
systems is to visually differentiate the exterior of a building.
These systems are generally installed within close proximity
to the building’s wall or roof. Facade systems are frequently
combined with custom lighting for dramatic effect.
SYSTEMS
Cambridge Architectural Space Sculpting systems define interior
or exterior space. For exterior applications – unlike Facade systems
that remain in close proximity to walls or roofs – Space Sculpting
systems meander freely away from a structure or can be entirely
independent of the structure. Space Sculpting helps manage foot
traffic, creates utilitarian space, shades the sun, masks industrial
elements and complements building security. For interior space,
Space Sculpting systems are utilized vertically to define space
or direct traffic, or used horizontally to sculpt overhead space.
Space Sculpting systems are frequently combined with custom
lighting for dramatic effect.
SYSTEMS
Cambridge Architectural Corporate Branding systems provide
unique opportunities for displaying elements of corporate branding.
Corporate signage can be attached to these systems. Logos can
be laser etched or sandblasted directly onto metal fabric. Custom
metal fabric patterns featuring corporate colors or other exotic
metals are also available. Lighting effects or branding imagery
can also be projected onto the surface of metal fabric patterns
with a highly desirable, unique result.
CATEGORIES
F A L L P R O T E C T I O N – Example applications include: parking
garage bays, stairwell enclosures, stair rail infill, balconies and elevated
walkways.
Economical fall protection solutions incorporate Cambridge Architectural
tension attachment hardware (20). As embedded supports are needed
only at the top and bottom of the panel of metal fabric, these attachments
dramatically reduce the number of embedded supports required.
With the metal fabric mounted within 4” of the structure, tension
attachments can be designed to meet or exceed the fall protection
and load requirements for most areas while eliminating the need for
additional handrail infill panels.
SECURITY & SAFETY 13
SYSTEMS
Cambridge Architectural Eclipse, Scroll, Talon and Velocity tension
attachment methods can be designed to meet or exceed design load
requirements for fall protection for the following building codes:
• SBC-1999/SBCCI – Southern Building Code Conference International
• IBC-2000/ICC – International Code Council
• BOCA-1999 – Building Officials and Code Administrators
(reference ASCE 7-95)
Consult Cambridge Architectural for design and load requirements
for testing.
S E C U R I T Y – Example applications include: parking garage bays,
stairwell enclosures, valuable merchandise displays, casino currency
exchange kiosks, and airport and other public security checkpoints.
A major security benefit of Cambridge Architectural mesh systems applied
to parking garage bays and stairwells is the high degree of visibility provided
to deter against theft and assault. When used for merchandise display,
it provides an aesthetically unique alternative to glass.
W I N D A B A T E M E N T – Utilizing Cambridge Architectural patent
pending tension attachment hardware (20), on a project-by-project
basis, Cambridge Architectural provides architectural mesh systems
designed to meet the requirements of coastal areas. These systems
withstand wind gusts up to 140 mph and can also be designed as a
barrier for wind-born materials.
For these systems, attachment brackets are modified to minimize
structural stress on the brackets and building during high wind speed
conditions. Complete wind tunnel and missile impact testing are
available on a project-by-project basis.
B L A S T M I T I G A T I O N – Metal fabric is an ideal material for
capturing curtain wall materials subject to explosion. Utilizing Cambridge
Architectural patent pending tension attachment hardware (20), on a
project-by-project basis, Cambridge Architectural designs and provides
blast mitigation systems that meet both aesthetic and functional
requirements.
A nationally recognized blast engineering and consultation firm assists
Cambridge Architectural designers and engineers to provide performance
criteria for individual projects.
SYSTEMS
Solar systems from Cambridge Architectural provide a unique
alternative to traditional shading systems such as louvers, canopies,
tinted glass or fabric curtains. Like traditional shading materials,
Solar systems can significantly reduce solar glare, light pollution
from electric night lighting and solar heat gain. However, unlike
traditional shading materials, architectural mesh also promotes
airflow. Cambridge systems can able designed to opacity,
shading and heat reduction.
SYSTEMS
Cambridge Architectural Ventilation systems are ideal particularly
where a unique design element is desired for open structure
construction such as parking garages and stair towers. For
example, architectural mesh provides a means for auto exhaust
to vent freely to the outside of a parking structure. In many
instances, HVAC systems can be downsized or eliminated.
And for stair towers, in a fire event, the metal fabric allows
smoke to vent, while providing visibility for fire rescue.
Cambridge Architectural Ventilation systems are also used in
interiors where significant ventilation is required, or as a unique
alternative to traditional louvers or grilles.
SYSTEMS
Cambridge Architectural Landscape Interior systems are designed
for large interior expanses. The metal fabric is a predominant
component of the interior design. Typically, Landscape Interior
systems provide one or more functionalities beyond aesthetics,
such as fall protection, ventilation, or space sculpting. Landscape
Interior systems are frequently combined with custom lighting for
dramatic effect.
I N T E R M E D I A T E B R A C K E T S – These non-structural
tieback support elements keep the metal fabric panel away
from the structure and maintain a consistent distance from
the top to bottom of each panel. Typical intermediate
attachments are required every 10’ of panel length and are
spaced 18”-36” horizontally depending on metal fabric panel
size and load conditions for regional areas.
ATTACHMENTS
SURFACE-MOUNTED EMBEDDED SUPPORT –
These supports are created via flat angle, or channeled supports.
This method is more costly than concealed embedded supports
and requires adequate support material (i.e., concrete or steel).
Support brackets for tension attachments can be anchored
directly to precast and cast-in-place wall panels where surface-
mounted embeds are provided. For tension attachments, surface-
mounted embeds are required only at the top and bottom of
a wall panel, with intermediate brackets requiring minimal
structural support.
EPOXY ANCHORS -
These supports can be designed to handle the high loads of
the top and bottom supports without embedded support or
additional steel. Epoxy anchors are drilled on sight and set in
place with an epoxy resin to ensure proper support.
