Installation Steps
After you download and unzip the PP Free kit, you will follow the steps below to get started:
1. Copy the add-in file to the Excel AddIns folder
2. Activate the PP Free add-in file
3. Start using the PP Free add-in.
1. Copy PP Free File to the Excel AddIns folder
Follow these steps to install the PP Free add-in:
1. Close Excel, then open Windows Explorer.
2. Find the downloaded PivotPowerFree.xlam file, and copy it.
3. Save the PP Free file in your Microsoft Addins folder. If you aren't sure where the AddIns
folder is located, follow the steps here to find it.
4. To allow Excel to open the add-in file automatically, you might need to unblock it. Right
click on the add-in file and click Properties
5. If the following warning appears, click the Unblock box, to add a check mark -- "This file came
from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer"
6. Paste in the PP Free add-in file, then close Windows Explorer

2. Activate the PP Free Add-in File
1. Open Excel, and on the Ribbon, click the Developer tab. If it isn't visible, follow the steps
here.
2. Click the Add-Ins command
3. In the Add-in dialog box, add a check mark to PP Free
Note: If you don't see PP Free in the list:
Click the Browse button.
Navigate to the AddIns folder, and select the add-in file
4. Click OK, to close the window.
3. Use the PP Free Add-in
A PP Free tab will appear on the Excel Ribbon, and you can start using the commands.
Point to a command, to see a popup message with notes about how the command works.

Get More Features with Pivot Power Premium
If you like the PP Free add-in, and want more features, check out the full version of Pivot
Power Premium (PPP). With PPP, you can quickly:
save and apply up to 5 groups of preferred pivot table settings
select all the value fields, or just a few, and change those to the Sum function.
Remove "Sum of" in Value field headings
Apply number formatting based on source data formatting
and many more time-saving features

Locate the AddIns Folder
To locate the default Excel AddIns folder, follow the steps below. Or, you can use my Excel
Addin Folder Path file to find it.
1. Click the Developer tab on the Excel Ribbon. If it isn't visible, follow the steps here.
2. Click the Add-Ins command
3. In the Add-Ins window, select any add-in in the list, and click the Browse button. That
will open the Browse window, at the AddIns folder.
4. Right-click on the path at the top of the Browse window, and click Copy Address
5. Click Cancel, to close the Browse window
6. Click Cancel, to close the Add-Ins window.
7. Paste the AddIns folder address into Notepad, so you can use it later

Show the Developer Tab
If the Developer tab isn't visible, follow these steps to show it.
1. Right-click on the Ribbon, and click Customize the Ribbon
2. At the right, in the Customize the Ribbon list, add a check mark to the Developer tab.
3. Click OK, to close the Excel Options window.
