Multimedia - Task 3
To demonstrate competency as defined by Competency 507.2.3: Integrated Technology

Development. This essay will describe the multimedia resource created to meet the requirement

for Task 3 of TDT1 and its prescribed audience. The paper will also include a brief description of

the software used to create the multimedia resource, TechSmith Camtasia 2019, and the rationale

for utilizing the software. A conceptional storyboard is also included as a visual organizer that

consists of images displayed in sequence for pre-visualizing the multimedia project. The

document, the essay, and the conceptional storyboard are saved downable and added as links to

the website.

Purpose of the Multimedia Product

The multimedia resource was created to provide a visual example for teachers charged with

designing and building websites and multimedia learning projects for students and parents alike.

The website will provide alternatives when using visual graphics that help build course and or

web page environments by including graphical elements. While incorporating multimedia

elements will give a visual standard for designing a student parent introduction video. Each of

which will support learner developmental needs.

Audience for the Multimedia Product

As noted in the process document created in tasks 1 and 2, the website and target audience's

purposes are instructors and assessors at WGU. However, the website learning resource is

ultimately being developed to guide newly assigned high school AP psychology teachers. In

turn, teachers are required to build websites to complement in-class learning facilitation with

online learning resources. The overarching audience is colleagues and new hires of long High

school. A supplement to the purpose is to provide a consultative voice when engaged in the

discussion related to the design and development of learning resources to assist specified school

districts.

Software Selected to Create Multimedia Projects

TechSmith's Camtasia 2019 was chosen to create multimedia projects because it

is by far a simple- user-friendly, all-in-one video editing and screen recording software program.

Built with beginners in mind, such as myself, Camtasia allows designers to create professional

training videos quickly and efficiently. It is comparable for both Windows and macOS users. The

software functionality also includes the user the ability to splice audio and videos, removing

unwanted portions, incorporating highlights and callouts to relevant sections of the video.

Rational for Software Choice

Camtasia is a software suite created by TechSmith. TechSmith, an industry leader known

for creating easy-to-use software, provides expert training resources and unparalleled support. As

noted, It can be utilized as a screen recorder and video editor. Camtasia helps the user record

screen movements and actions, import video from a camera or other sources. It offers multiple

modalities for sharing videos and several features embedded within the video that delivers

engaging content material.

Process - Creating Multimedia Projects

Prior to creating the video I began by engaging my supervisor to discuss

guidelines and standards when commutating with colleagues, students, and parents. I decided a

good plan of action should include the review of the existing content on the topic. The next step

in the pre-creation process was to create a quick script and storyboard to help design and know

what I wanted to include in the project.  I used an iPhone, iPad, and Apple laptop to record to

create the final project resource.

How to Make a Video Using Camtasia

How to Make a Video Using Camtasia

Let's begin by describing Camtasia! TechSmith's software for Windows or Mac systems

that allows the user to create videos—knowing how to make videos on software other than

windows movie maker will help teachers, as it will give you multiple ways to customize your

learning resources. The ability to create educational videos is also beneficial, as videos are

alternatives to sharing knowledge.

Step 1. Choose a topic

As a direct result of Covid 19, video-based educational materials are in demand.

The initial step when creating instructional videos is to plan out your topics and make a

solid plan.

Start by choosing a topic focused on a specific task or piece of content that your students

need to learn. Consider the most common or critical charges that they struggle with and start

there. Make sure the topics are narrowly focused. Videos with a single, focused subject are more

comfortable to create and usually make for more successful learning resources. Don't be

apprehensive about breaking up a video into multiple issues if necessary. Some common

examples of step by step educational videos consist of:

Micro

Describes as short instructional content that emphasis is on teaching a single, narrow

topic. Micro videos are usually less than a minute long and appeal to students who may have

limited motivational moments.

Tutorial

Tutorial videos are the go-to instructional method for teaching a process or providing step-by-

step instructions. Usually, between 2-10 minutes long, tutorial videos may leverage multiple

instructional methods.

Explainer

Explainer videos are short videos. Which are usually less than two minutes) that explain

concepts in an entertaining, visual way.

Step 2. Create a storyboard or step-by-step script

Once a topic has been chosen, a storyboard may help visualize what you want to teach. Many

times, simple sketches or images will be helpful. An alternative idea, write a basic outline of

what will be introduced. In many instances, a simple set of talking points is a perfect way to

ensure that nothing is overlooked before recording your teaching video.

Step 3. Capture your footage or record your computer monitor

Gather all equipment, supplies, props, or tools needed for your video. (example, a tripod,

smartphone, smartphone lighting, and possibly a clip to keep the camera steady.

Step 4. Stage the recording area and make sure it is well lit. Position the iPhone camera

on a tripod and place it as close to the subject as possible. Proximity to the topic will help obtain

high-quality sound when recording with a smartphone camera. When the recording area is set,

use the created storyboard and script as a step-by-step guide. Camtasia has a video editor and

makes it simple to record video content and add it directly to the timeline.

Step 4. Start your project and import the recorded video into Camtasia

With your footage recorded, you're ready to use Camtasia. Open Camtasia and create a New

Project. There many paths to import recorded material into Camtasia. If you recorded your

screen, the software will automatically pull in a new project or add your recording to the existing

project you're working on. On the other hand, if you recorded with your smartphone, the

suggestion is TechSmith fuse, which allows the user to move images and video from their mobile

devices directly to Camtasia and Snagit. Users may also transfer media to a computer or laptop,

then import it with a click on the plus sign in the media bin and selecting Import Media.

Step 6. Add an intro sequence

Do this by creating at the beginning of the timeline by holding shift on your keyboard and

dragging the play head. Open the media bin section, choose the library tab. from the Motion

Graphics - Intro Clips folder, drag an intro clip to the timeline.

Step 7. Produce and share the video

When the video appears, you're ready to produce the video and distribute it to your intended

audience! Click the Share button and choose Local File to export the video file to your computer.

Or, use the other options to send your video to the web for instant sharing with others.
