What is Cross-linked Polyolefin / XLPO?
Cross-linked Polyolefin, also referred to as XLPO, is a form of insulation that is
created through both heat and high pressure. The most important attribute of
XLPO is that it is halogen free. The importance of a halogen free cable is one that
it will not emit toxic gases when exposed to fire. Therefore, a common use for
XLPO wire and cable is in the transit industry.
Selection Parameter of Solar DC Cable:
Type of insulation of cable
Voltage drop of cable
Resistance of Cable
Points to be remember:
Module to AJB/INV cable should be Class-5
Cable conductor max 90degree but for maximum 120 degree for 20000 hrs.
Class of conductor refers to the flexibility required for an application. Class 2 is used in
cases where the installation is fixed and they are stranded conductors. Class 5 refers to
a flexible conductor. The core of class 5 conductor has a number of thin wires than class
2 to make it more flexible
V(drop)%=(2*Impp*R*L*100)/ Voltage
Impp
R=Resistance of cable (Ohm/Meter)
L=Length of cable (Meter)
Voltage=Vmpp*no of series module
P(loss)%=[(Impp²*R*L)*100]/TOTAL POWER
