Simple Past Tense Guide

We use the Simple Past tense to describe actions that started and finished at a specific time in the past. It is formed using the past tense form of regular verbs or irregular verb forms. For affirmative sentences, the subject and past tense verb are used. For negative sentences, auxiliary "did" is used along with the infinitive form of the verb. Interrogative sentences use auxiliary "did" and invert the subject and verb. The verb "to be" is irregular, with past forms "was" and "were". Exercises are provided to practice forming sentences in the simple past tense.
