Newton Law of Motion

Newton's Law of Motion describes how forces cause acceleration. The document provides 3 word problems involving forces acting on objects with given masses: 1) Forces of 6N and 4N acting together or opposite on a 3kg body, 2) A 7N force accelerating masses m1 and m2 individually and together, 3) A 25N force kicking a 0.4kg football. The questions ask to calculate the accelerations produced in each scenario based on Newton's Second Law relating force, mass, and acceleration.

Newton’s Law of Motion

Solve the following:

1. Two forces of magnitude 6N and 4n act on a 3 kg body. What is the acceleration produced when these
forces are acting in the same direction? What is the acceleration produced when these forces are
oppositely directed?

2. A 7N force accelerates mass m1 by 5 m/s2. The same force acts on another mass m2 and imparts to it
an acceleration of 20 m/s. What acceleration the same force impart to the two masses whey they are
joined together?

3. What acceleration is imparted to a football when the player kicked it with a force of 25N? mass of a
football = 0.40 kg.
