Magdadaro Reflection Paper

Biodiversity has so much to offer, especially here in the Philippines. In this video, it talks about

the richness of Philippines when it comes to biodiversity. It was also discussed in the video the common

problems that was happening and is about to happen caused by the bad habit and doings of human beings,

and as the video continues it was discussed also in the video the possible ways of helping to conserve

biodiversity. As for the second video, the Forest Ecosystem it gives us informations about the organisms

that are interacting in there and the benefits they get from each other, it also discussed about the benefits

of Forest Ecosystem to mankind. Now, for the third video the Freshwater Ecosystem, it simply talks about

the importance of this kind of ecosystem to mankind, however, it was also discussed in the video the

devastating impact of human beings to Freshwater ecosystem.

Upon watching the videos, I had lots of realizations and learnings. As for the Philippine

Biodiversity, I realized that, we truly are blessed by different species and organisms. Some of this

organisms are our source of food and survival. Furthermore, the video of Forest Ecosystem taught me the

important parts and organisms that are present in this ecosystem. One of this is the soil, according to the

video, all life in the forest starts in the soil because this were most plants get there and water. It was also

discussed in the video the composition of the soil which is the tiny particle of the organic matter that

comes from the dead body of plants and animals that through the process of decomposition it is achieved.

As the video goes, it also discussed the producers which serves as the food and source of energy of the

primary consumers, while primary consumer refers to the organism that directly relies their energy to the

producers. The video also discussed the secondary and tertiary consumers. I had have also realized in the

said video that we, human beings had a lot of benefits from the forest ecosystem and we have the

responsibility to take care of this ecosystem. The third video also gave me a lot learnings and realizations.

Freshwater Ecosystem has so much to offer, on the other side, we humans are the number one destroyer

of it. Human have impact to this ecosystem and these are habitat alteration, water overuse, pollution run
off, waste water and channelization. Hence, the videos keep on reminding us that in spite of the fact the

we are slowly damaging our beautiful ecosystems, there is still hope and ways to help preserve it.

We really can’t deny the fact that we are the number cause of biodiversity loss, however, the videos that I

watched recommends a lot of ways. For me as a concerned citizen, I agree to the video shown that it is

not too late to save our biodiversities and ecosystems. Simple actions like proper disposal of waste can be

a great help in preserving our ecosystems and biodiversities. Moreover, for me it is also a great help to

educate the youth and children, making ourselves as good examples to them, for the reason that I still

believe that we can have change, but change must start in ourselves. Be a good example, so that other

might learn from you. Together, with proper knowledge we can help preserve Biodiverties.
