Applying for Registration as a Candidate Engineer

1. Download the application form

2. Fully complete the first two pages of the application form E1.1 and E 1.2, both pages signed by yourself and the commissioner of oaths(include commissioners stamp).
3. Include a certified copy of your B Sc(Eng)/B Eng Degree(not a copy of a certified document.
4. Attend to payment of applicable application fees and include proof of payment in your application. You may use your Full names/Identity number as payment reference.
5. Submit the originally completed and commissioned application form and qualifications via post or direct delivery to our offices.

Applying for Registration as a Professional Engineer

Decide whether you wish to be assessed against

• Requirements of ECSA Policy R2/1A, Section 5 and relevant Discipline Specific Guidelines (Legacy System) or
• ECSA Competency Standards for Professional Engineers, document R-02-PE (New Registration System)

• If you have selected Legacy System download the Legacy System Application form and the relevant Discipline Specific Guideline Document and ensure that the
following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the application:
1. First two pages of the application form A 1.1 and A1.2 fully completed, signed by yourself and commissioned by the commissioner of oaths
2. Be sure to Nominate two Referees, at least one of which should be a Professional Engineer registered with ECSA and the second another registered Professional.
3. Request the nominated referees to fully complete the referee report forms A 4.1 and A 4.2 and submit same directly to ECSA.
4. Include Certified Copies of the original B Sc(Eng)/B Eng degree
5. Considering the Qualification(s) you entered, please verify whether:
1. The qualification is listed on ECSA Document E-20-PE as an accredited programme or appears in list B as a recognised programme and that the year in
which you were last registered falls into the period of accreditation; or
2. Your qualification is recognised under the Washington Accord. Please consult the list or database of accredits qualification of the relevant Washington
Accord signatory for the country in which you obtained the qualification. If you do not qualify under a or b, please change your application type to
Educational Evaluation.
6. Include the following documents in your application
1. Proof of Voluntary Association Membership or Application for Membership (Letter, certificate, Invoice or Receipt.
2. Proof of Identity: Original Copy of RSA ID or Passport on plain paper, certified by Commissioner of Oaths
7. Ensure that the following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the application:
1. Summary of Training and Experience report form A2.2. From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in a
chronological date order(please see application form information sheet A2)
2. Training and Experience Report for each Period using form A2.1 From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in
the same chronological date order as listed on form A 2.2. Each period on a separate form A 2.1 signed by yourself and the relevant supervisor if
registered or not(please see application form information sheet A2)
3. Orgonograms

2. Agricultural: 2000-4000 Words Project Report
3. Chemical: None

6. Industrial: Key Assessment Form AK7

• If you have selected the New Registration System application ensure that the following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the
application:
1. First two pages of the application form AN 1.1 and AN1.2 fully completed, signed by yourself and commissioned by the commissioner of oaths

2. Be sure to Nominate two Referees, at least one of which should be a Professional Engineer registered with ECSA and the second another registered Professional.
3. Request the nominated referees to fully complete the referee report forms AN 6.1 and AN 6.2(R-03RR-PE) and submit same directly to ECSA.
4. Include Certified Copies of the original B Sc(Eng)/B Eng degree
5. Considering the Qualification(s) you entered, please verify whether:
1. The qualification is listed on ECSA Document E-20-PE as an accredited programme or appears in list B as a recognised programme and that the year in
which you were last registered falls into the period of accreditation; or

submission in a chronological date order(please see application form information sheet A2)
2. Training and Experience Report for each Period using form AN 2.1(R-03-TER-PE). From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till
date of submission in the same chronological date order as listed on form AN 2.2. Each period on a separate form AN 2.1 signed by yourself and the
relevant supervisor if registered or not(please see application form information sheet A2)
3. Mature Applicants may submit Training and Experience Outlines(TEO). See section 4.3 and Table 3 of R-03-PE.
4. Orgonograms
5. Fully completed Engineering Report form R-03-ER-PE
6. Pre-registration CPD-type Activity report(IPD) on form R-03-IPD-PE.

Candidate Engineering Technologist

1. Download the application form

2. Fully complete the first two pages of the application form E1.1 and E 1.2, both pages signed by yourself and the commissioner of oaths(include commissioners stamp).
3. Include certified copies of your B Tech Engineering, Statement of results/transcripts for the B Tech, certified copies of the National Diploma certificate and Statement of
results/transcripts for the National Diploma.
4. Attend to payment of applicable application fees and include proof of payment in your application. You may use your Full names/Identity number as payment reference.
5. Submit the originally completed and commissioned application form and qualifications via post or direct delivery to our offices.

Professional Engineering Technologist

1. Download the Application form: Registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist

2. First two pages of the application form B 1.1 and B1.2 fully completed, signed by yourself and commissioned by the commissioner of oaths.
3. Include certified copies of your B Tech Degree and National Diploma certificates
4. Be sure to Nominate Three referees registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer.
5. Request the nominated referees to fully complete the referee report form B4 and submit same directly to ECSA.
6. Fully completed form B 1.3 listing your Tertiary Qualifications.
7. Include the following documents in your application
1. Proof of Voluntary Association Membership or Application for Membership (Letter, certificate, Invoice or Receipt.
8. Ensure that the following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the application:
1. Summary of Training and Experience report form B 2.2. From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in a
chronological date order(please see application form information sheet B)
2. Training and Experience Report for each Period using form B 2.1 from first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in the
same chronological date order as listed on form B 2.2. Each period on a separate form B 2.1 signed by yourself and the relevant supervisor if registered or not

Certificated Engineer or Professional Engineer, one of which must be from your direct supervisor.
5. Request the nominated referees to fully complete the referee report form C4 and submit same directly to ECSA.
6. Include the following documents in your application
1. Proof of Voluntary Association Membership or Application for Membership (Letter, certificate, Invoice or Receipt.
7. Ensure that the following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the application:
1. Summary of Training and Experience report form C 2.2. From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in a
chronological date order(please see application form information sheet C)
2. Training and Experience Report for each Period using form C 2.1 from first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in the
same chronological date order as listed on form C 2.2. Each period on a separate form C 2.1 signed by yourself and the relevant supervisor if registered or not

4. Submit certified copies of the acceptable Legal appointments(refer to the information sheet D 1.2).
5. Be sure to Nominate Two referees registered with ECSA as either Professional Certificated Engineer or Professional Engineer, one of which must be from a Professional
Certificated Engineer.

4. Be sure to Nominate Three referees ECSA as either as Registered Lifting Machinery Inspector or Professional Engineers or Professional Engineering Technologist or
Professional Engineering Technicians or Professional Certificated Engineer.
5. Request the nominated referees to fully complete the referee report form J 4.1 and J 4.2 and submit same directly to ECSA.
6. Certified Copies of Load test and Inspections certificates signed by yourself and a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector.
7. Fully complete the Development Questionnaire on the prescribed form J 2.3 signed by yourself and the relevant supervisor. Each question must be answered
accordingly.
8. Fully completed Major Inspection and Load Test Report on the prescribed form J 2.4 for each equipment you wish to be registered in signed by yourself and the
relevant supervisor. Each question must be answered.
9. Include a Work Schedule for each equipment you wish to be registered in.
10. Record of Inspections done over a period of at least 2 years on form J 2.6
11. Include the following documents in your application
1. Proof of Voluntary Association Membership or Application for Membership (Letter, certificate, Invoice or Receipt.
12. Ensure that the following documents are completed using the templates indicated are included with the application:
1. Summary of Training and Experience report form F 2.2. From first instance of experience after obtaining the first degree till date of submission in a
