INTRODUCTION
We the MSc Nursing students of first year visited PSG College of Nursing.
They welcomed as into the auditorium; the principal mam explained about objectives of the PSG
College of Nursing.
HISTORY
PSG College of Nursing was founded in the year 1994 under the PSG Sons & charities trust.
In 2005, M.Sc. Nursing was started in various departments
At present various courses are initiated in the nursing department
In 2017, Ph.D. (Nursing) was started with 3 years duration for Full time and 4 years for Part
time under 3 specialties.
Apart from these, in recent times three other courses Post Basic Diploma in Operation Room
Nursing, Post Basic Diploma in Critical Care Nursing and Nurse Practitioner in Critical
Care(NPCC) were added.

1. HOSPITAL
The PSG Hospital is a well-known multi-speciality hospital in the city of comatose. It is a
1300 bedded hospital with 26 speciality of departments offering expert care.
The students also gain clinical expertise from affiliated institutions, which are specialized
hospitals providing clinical experience in speciality areas.
2. CLASSROOMS
The PSG college of Nursing has well ventilated classrooms with comfortable seating
arrangements. Each classroom is equipped with Black boards, OHP, LCD and a public
address system.
3. LIBRARY
The library at the PSG collage of nursing is a store house of knowledge stocking more than
10,000 books of current medical and nursing titles and subscribes to about 169 journals.

4. LABORATORIES
Each department of the PSG collage of nursing has separate laboratories which are fully
equipped.
The laboratories are
Fundamentals of nursing laboratories with medical surgical nursing
Nutrition lab
Paediatric lab
Community health nursing lab
Maternity nursing lab
Simulation lab
All the laboratories are well equipped with mannequins, simulators, necessary articles and
equipment’s for procedure demonstrations, models, specimens, audio visual aids and computers.
Labs are utilized for demonstrations and students practice of procedure under specimen.
5. HOSTEL
The PSG hostel offers comfortable stay for the students within the campus during their
course of study. The hostel is clean and comfortable, and each room is provided with
adequate facilities for stay and study. The hostel has a visitor’s lounge, recreation hall, study
hall, prayer hall facilities for indoor games, magazines, reading and television.
Mess facilities are available with a well-maintained dining hall adjacent to the hostel
Vegetarian/ Non-vegetarian meals are prepared hygienically and served aesthetically.
6. SPORTS GROUND
The college provides sports and recreation facilities for the students through the department of
physical education. There are two physical directors (One Male and ONE Female) available to
give coaching and training for the students.
The sports facilities includes outdoor games like volleyball, basketball, hand ball, tennikoit,
tennis, shuttle, ball badminton and indoor games like TT, carrom and chess
There is also spacious play ground for athletic and filed events.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FRO STUDENTS TO JOIN PSG COLLEGE OF NURSING
Eligibility criteria for admission to B.SC NURSING
(a) 10+2 class passed with Science Physics, Chemistry, and Biology & English Core /
English Elective with aggregate of 45% marks from recognized board under AISSCE / CBSE
/ ICSE / SSCE / HSCE or other equivalent Board.
(b) Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of
Open School with 45 marks. (c) 5% relaxation for admission to all the SC / ST candidates.
Eligibility criteria for admission to M.SC NURSING
(a) Qualifying Examination Degree / Provisional Pass Certificate.
(b) Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council Registration Certificate.
(c) Migration Certificate (Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than
the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, University of Madras, Bharathiar
University, Bharathidasan University and Madurai Kamaraj University).
(d) One year experience certificate after Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) from the date of registration of
State Nursing Council.
(e) One year experience certificate prior or after Post Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) from the date of
registration of State Nursing Council.
(f) Post Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) Additional Qualification Certificate
(h) B.Sc.(Nursing) & Post Basic B.Sc.(Nursing) with minimum of 55% aggregate marks. 5%
relaxation of marks SC/ST candidate.
STAFF RECRUITMENT
The Staffs are recruited based on qualification and experience, by having an Face to face interview
and demo class.
QUALIFICATION
TUTOR : B.Sc. Nursing, 3 years of experience
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing, 5 years of experience
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing, 8 years of experience
PROFESSOR : M.Sc. Nursing or Ph.D., 10 years of experience
PRINCIPAL : M.Sc. Nursing, Ph.D., 15 years of experience in that 5 years of
teaching experience

Through the field visit, it is a great opportunity to know about the organization pattern of college of
nursing, various departments and their head, qualifications for each post and their responsibilities.
