Title: The Benefits of Using the Internet

A very good morning I bid to everyone. My name is Sarah Milly and I’m from SK
Airport, Belaga. Today, on this very fine day, I would like to present to you a very
exciting speech. Would you like to hear it? Alright then. My public speech is entitled
‘The Benefits of using the Internet’.

Internet. I guess many of us might have heard the word especially in this era
where almost everything are related to internet. But do we know what does internet
means? According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, the Internet is a network, or system,
that connects millions of computers worldwide. It was one of the greatest inventions of
the 1900s.

One of the benefits of using internet is that it can be used for us to get
information anytime and anywhere we want. The Internet can be accessed via tablet
computers and most cell phones and televisions. As more and more people use the
Internet, the quantity of information continues to grow. As a pupil, I can find many
reading materials in the internet. For example, I can use online encyclopedia, online
news, and even online novels. This does not need too much time and I can just type the
keywords in the search engine and click the search button. There are many types of
browser that we can use such as Google, Morzilla Firefox, Bing! and many more. Hence,
internet can helps us to gain knowledge and learning without limit.

Moreover, internet can help us to communicate with billions of people in the


world. We can send pictures, video and even having live streaming with them. The
easiest example is by uploading this video to this public speaking competition. Isn’t that
awesome? We also can reach our family members who are far from us. We can make
video call or chat with them by using lots of application such as Facebook, WhatsApp,
Instagram and many more. These apps have a lot of features that we can use to
communicate with people around the world. Thus, it is no longer impossible to make
friends from other places through internet.

Next, internet can be really useful when it comes to dealing with services. We
can use online banking, online bill payment and online shopping. Some of you might be
familiar or recently are using Shopee, Food Panda, or SarawakPay. These applications
are online services that we can use daily. There is no need to queue up for paying bills
or buying groceries or even waiting for our turn at the bank. Internet can handle that,
piece of cake. Hence, it is no doubt that internet is making our lives getting easier.
Furthermore, internet can provide entertainment for us. If you are a gamer,
surely you can browse the internet to find the best game that you want. Recently, I can
see that many teenagers and even the adults are playing online games such as Mobile
Legend, PUBG, COC, and many more. For some people, game can be very challenging and
this can increase the competitive level among them. But mostly, it is for fun and stress
reliever. The exciting part is that these online games can be played by more than one
player. We don’t have to see each other to play games but instead we can just play with
them anywhere and anytime using internet. Plus, we can also have our entertainment by
streaming movies. The application that we can use are Netflix, iFlix, Astro Go and many
more. Movie lovers would be really eager for these apps.

In a nutshell, internet has so many benefits for us. It really helps to make our
life easier and filled with more excitement. So, my friends let us use the internet to
communicate, deal with services and enjoy entertainment for our goodness. Hope that
