We have done the analysis by analyzing the web usability measures of Rey Naturals from the
article ‘A comparative Study of Web Site Usability Practices of Fortune 500 versus INC. 500
companies’ [ CITATION Hua12 \l 16393 ]
The 11 Usability measures which are furthermore organized into 4 categories are analyzed as
follows:
Navigational Aids
The measures under this category can help users to locate information and also carry out
certain tasks as per their needs while using the website.
It allows users to search the contents of the website. On the Rey Naturals website, the
search button is easily available first thing on the homepage itself. Here we can search
any product and the details about the same will appear.
2) Site Index
It shows the overview of the main topics of the website. Here the contents are shown in
an organized and systematic way which can help user to access any topic with ease.
3) Breadcrumb Trail
It means a navigational pathway showing the users current location while using the site.
Rey natural’s website shows the pathway directory and also highlights the page we are
currently on. This helps the user in identifying what page he is currently browsing.
Identity Features
These measures focus on the use of design elements on the website to clarify the
company identity. As the users mostly like to browse quickly through each web page,
these measures can help in direct access to the home page link.
It shows that the text displayed in the title bar of the browser when the user is at a
particular webpage, should be clear and distinct and it should represent the company.
This makes it easier to recollect and revisit the same information. Rey Naturals displays
the same and fulfils this measure.
5) Homepage tagline
This shows use of a phrase or a tagline to represent and identify the company. There is
no particular tagline as such of this company that is present on the website.
This category identifies all the common measures used on the website, absence of which
can create confusion and frustration. It helps the user to move from one page to another
without making any extra effort.
It shows that no matter whatever page you are browsing through, by simply clicking the
company logo you can directly be transferred to the homepage. This company fulfils this
measure which can help in increasing customer satisfaction.
It shows the change in colour of the text of the link that has been visited. This company
does not fulfil this measure. This can lead to users not realizing that they have already
visited a particular link and they might open the same link multiple times leading to
confusion.
It shows that the search labels and symbols are clear and unambiguous. This company
fulfils this measure. If this is absent then the user may fail to find information as the
search option is not recognizable.
Avoidance of errors
This category shows that some of the usability measures are best when they are avoided.
It shows an advertisement like introductory screen before the real web page appears
which might take some time for the original content of the site to be shown. There is no
splash page present in Rey Naturals website.
It shows the presence of a home link on the home page itself which might lead to
confusion for the user as he/she might keep reloading the same home page again and
again. Rey Naturals does not fulfil this measure.
USABILITY MEASURE
From the above 11 measures Rey Naturals has scored 7/11 which is an average score
when it is compared with the Fortune 500 and INC. 500 companies.
This website almost fulfils all the necessary criteria of being the most user-friendly
website. Adding to the above measures, this website is very easily accessible and the
users can also send in their questions through the contact page. That page promises to get
back to the customer queries within a few days which are an impressive feature.
Comparison
The next step is to compare the results of our company with that of the companies of
Fortune 500 and INC. 500.

These results raise a question about whether the companies are giving proper attention to these
usability measures or not. From the above comparisons, it can be observed that I create is scoring
more than the Fortune 500 and INC. 500 companies. This shows that I create is scoring above
average and doing very well in maintaining its website so far. It is also frequently active on the
same. They keep their products and prices of the products up to date which shows that they are
making an effort to keep their company’s website clean and crisp containing all the necessary
information needed for an optimal user-friendly experience.
