Activities:
Day 1
Drawing a described picture
When we describe a picture, we use describing words to tell how the picture looks.
Those describing words are words called adjectives. Adjectives help us to tell how things look, feel, taste,
smell, and sound. We can remember adjectives by remembering our 5 senses. We use our eyes to look,
hands to feel, mouth to taste, nose to smell and ears to hear.
An example of how to draw a picture that a person is describing is shown below
A big old cricket glove they are using the word big and old to let us
know that we should draw a cricket glove
that is big and old. They are using adjectives.
It simply means you draw
what they are asking you
or telling you.
Let us see two more examples
An old and skinny cow
A big new house
Now you will try it.
Draw a big ripe pineapple
Use the box for your drawing.
Then have your child do worksheet for day 1.

When we join the sounds /f/ and /l/ we get the /fl/ sound and in the word flower.
Let us look at words that have the /fl/ as beginning sounds. Lets learn to read words beginning with /fl/ sound.
If possible, look at the video with fl words.

Learn to read and spell the words.

Day 3
Common and Proper Nouns.
Let us continue learning about Common and Proper Nouns. Let us
review.
Now let us look at some Common Nouns
from the story ‘crabbing’
Eg. swamp – the word swamp is a common
noun naming a place. Let us change it to a
Proper Noun by giving this swamp a specific
name. eg. Caroni Swamp. The name Caroni Swamp is now a Proper
Noun because it is the specific name of the swamp and so we need to write it with a capital letter at the
beginning of the words ‘Caroni Swamp.
Eg. uncle- the word uncle is a Common Noun because it names any uncle but let us give the uncle a specific
name, a Proper Noun. Uncle Issaac. The word Issac becomes the Proper Noun because it names the specific
uncle.
Now you try changing Common Nouns to Proper Nouns.
Write a Proper Noun for the Common Noun
mountain _______________
road ________________
river __________________

Day 4
Re-writing a fiction story
Let us read and know what is fiction and non-fiction.
A story is fiction when the story is telling us things that are not true. A story is non-fiction when the story is
telling us true things.
Eg. Farmer Joe has many cows. He has a lot because he gets milk from the cows. He sells milk. This story
is non-fiction because it tells us true things about what a farmer does and where we get milk.
The frog was crying because he was lost. His friend the cricket baked him a nice cake to help him be
happy. This is a fiction story because it tells us things that are not true. A frog cannot cry and a cricket cannot
bake a cake.
Now you try it write fiction or non-fiction to the names of this stories
The cow that sings __________________ The way a flower grows _____________________
How to catch a fish ____________________ My friend the elephant doctor __________________
