• 1- Briefly describe the functions of placenta (15 minutes/10 marks)
Physiology
1. Define homeostasis, discuss the components of homeostatic
system. Explain with examples of negative and positive feedback

2. List the functions and properties of the muscular system. Explain
excitation and (2+3+5=10 marks)
Biochemistry:
1. Using a suitable diagram explain the primary, secondary and
tertiary structure of collagen.
2. What is scurvy? Explain the signs and symptoms of this disease.
3. What other clinical conditions can affect the integrity of Collagen
fibers?
Pharmacology
• a) What is meant by the elimination half-life of a drug
• b) For a drug which undergoes first-order elimination process,
comment on the half-life of the drug.
• c) If the same dose of a drug is given at a dosing interval which is
equal to its half-life, how long will it take for the drug to reach its
steady-state concentration?
• d) What is meant by zero-order elimination process?
• e) Give one example of a drug which undergoes zero-order
elimination
