SCHOOL LIBRARY PROGRAM – HIGH SCHOOL PRIORITY LIBRARY SKILLS

The High School Library Program Instruction is designed to support student information literacy needs on a broad range of course topics. For Example: High Schools often offer
curriculum such as English/LA, Math, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts (Art, Band, Choir, Music) Practical Arts/Career & Technical Education (Accounting, Business, Computer
Applications, Computer Keyboarding, Marketing, Leadership Education (JROTC), Health & Physical Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, Honors & Advance Placement,
World Languages, Culinary, Practical Nursing, Tourism, Visual Communications, Carpentry and more. In order to provide services that are supportive of the different content, the
School Librarian works collaboratively with the school community to develop combined lessons/instruction in addition to offering independent time for research in the library
during class periods. Library Instruction is offered both fixed and flexible scheduling dependent on the needs. As many of these courses may also be grade level combinations, the
School Librarian and teacher work together to develop a plan to accommodate variations.
