Alpha Protocol is a new spy RPG game presented to us by Obsidian Entertainment, a

company responsible for Neverwinter Night 2, Nights of the Old Republic 2 and the upcoming Fallout
new Vegas. Unfortunately, the game is a big disappointment due to the low quality graphics, silly
animations that will make you roll your eyes, unnatural moves and many more flaws.

Michael Torton, a new recruit in the American Government Spy Agency gets his first task to
rid the World of a conspiracy made by a chain of terrorists. The story presented in the game can be
described as a not so good hybrid of Mission Impossible, 24 and James Bond.

The game can roughly be split into 3 segments: fighting, dialogs and equipping your spy with
new weapons, armor and gadgets. The first part (fighting) is a classical 3 rd person shooter where you
infiltrate enemy territory and kill everything that moves or in some rare cases, avoid fights. Dialogues
that unveil the story are set in or between the missions and the interesting factor here is that
depending on what way you choose to answer (from a list 3 or 4) when talking to enemies or
collegues, varies the story. Your answears affest who will live and who will die and that gives you a
good sence that you are in charge of the game. The third and probably the most interesting segment
is equiping your spy with new weapons, devices or other spy gear. Depending on how you equip the
character, his fighting tehniques vary from a stelth assasin to a straight forward shooting one. This
combination of RPG and third person shooter reminds us of a cheap version of Mass Effect.

The soul of the Alpha Protocol is the Unreal Engine 3 software which most game developing
studious use. The fact that strikes us the most is the very low quality of its implementation, especially
in the visual aspect, as sad earlyer. The game also tends to lag a lot for no particular reason. On top
of that, the artificial inteligence of your enemies is aufull! It’s not a surprice if the enemy just stands
in one spot sometimes doesn’t even open fire on you.

We sad a lot that we DIDN’T like, so lets say what we acctually liked about this game. The
mini-games, which come in a variaty of formes appear whenever you need to hack a computer,
lockpick a door or rewire some electronics. Although some players might find this borring or
frustrating, we enjoy the mini-game implementation. Unfortunatelly, that about raps it up for the
„like“ part.

To Sumarise all, Alpha Protocol is a game from which was expected much, being the fact that
it was delayed for one whole year, but in the end turned out to be a big dissapointment.
