Cem )y, Lesson 7
| + The purpose ofthis lesson is to introduce fonts, diferent font styles and thir effective use to students. How to
ada shapes, highlight the text and tex alignment options of word processor are also introduced.
} Begin the clas by asking the students to observe each other's handwriting and note the similarities and
differences. Tell them that they can use the computer to write indifferent styles and colours. Inform them that
the handwriting on a computer is alle font and they an change the sizeof the font as they like. Ask them to
open a particular textbook and note the different styles of fonts and whether they are bold, underlined and so
on, You can also type a shor esay ora poem, where you use different types of fons for the tile and text.
"Open word processor and demonstrate how to change the font and its size. Ask the students to explore which
button can be clicked to change the colour of the font. (Ensure that the colour option is seen on the toolbar). As
“students already know the action of selecting a particular word to edit it, they can be guided to change the fonts
‘nd colour on their own. For students who are unable todo it on their own, demonstrate the procedure.
‘+ Inform the students thatthe styles of writing a particular text have to be used appropriately. Illustrate this by
showing them the text “Tejas, Jyoti and Moz are discussing computers,” and ask what is written and whether
they can read it easily. Emphasise that while the word processor allows us to use a variety of styles for writing
and can make our task easier, its also important to develop the skill of formatting text appropriately. This skill
‘can be easily developed by observing the font size, style and type in printed text such as textbooks, newspapers,
storybooks, comics, greeting cards, invitations and so on.
‘Summarise the lesson and allow the students to do the activities using word processor. Remind them to use the
~ edit options they have already learnt.
“Ask the students to write the story included inthe lesson on a computer and use the different font options to
format the text, Make sute they are able to add various shapes, callouts and use alignment options to give effects
othe story.
‘To download the relevant Android app used in the Double Tap section, please refer to Double Tap Appendix at
