Introduction:
Ridesharing services are companies that match drivers of private vehicles to those
seeking local taxicab-like transportation. Ridesharing services are available mostly
in large cities in many countries. People who owns a car or motorcycle and want to
earn money by sharing rides, they register in any ride sharing company. Then they
can earn money by sharing rides or we can say taking fare. The whole thing is
controlled by a mobile application. People who want to share rides and people who
want to take rides, they can find one another through this application
Though it was very popular in western country, Bangladesh have the experience of
ride sharing service much later. Uber is the first ride sharing company. In 2009
Uber started their business in USA. First they were
sharing by-cycle. Then Uber developed themselves and
now they are one of the biggest company in the world.
They operated in many countries. Uber came to Dhaka
in 2016. But they had some problems in the beginning.
Government had no rules regarding this business as
Bangladesh were unknown to such kind of business.
Government even tried to shut down Uber. Then
Government of Bangladesh make some new rules
regarding this business and through Uber Bangladeshi
people got their first experience of ride sharing service.
But at the beginning Uber were Struggling because the
people of Bangladesh were not accepting it. It seemed
expensive. As a developing country not many people
got the ability to ride a car. Then came another
company which is a local company. They came up with
a similar idea but slightly different. This idea was
perfect for Bangladesh. Instead of car, they were
offering rides in a motorbike. First of all it reduces the cost very much and as a
matter of fact it seemed a time saving option. As traffic jam is a huge problem in
Bangladesh. It is accepted by the consumers. After that Uber also divert their focus
on motorbike. Alongside Pathao and Uber some other ride sharing company came
to the market such as Obhai, Shohoz, Pickme , Etc. Now ride share service has a
huge market in Bangladesh.
Objectives of the study:

     Safety, Discounts)
To find out if we can use this service to reduce traffic jam

give them a chance to improve their quality
The stakeholders such as ride sharing providers, customers, riders, and drivers will
be benefited out of this study.
Limitation of the study:
This study focus on a particular customer group and their experience. To gather
actual data will very difficult for limited time frame and budget.
    Time constraint
    Budget limitation
Lack of data availability
Literature review:
Ridesharing services are companies that match drivers of private vehicles to those
seeking local taxicab-like transportation.
Ridesharing services are available mostly in large cities in many countries. Some
of the biggest names in the industry are Uber, which exists in 58 countries and
whose name is almost synonymous with ridesharing services, and Lyft, which
covers many American cities.
Ridesharing services have been seen by some as controversial for various reasons.
The legality has been brought into question, even as these services continue to
operate, with laws varying by location. Taxicab companies have complained about
the competition. There has also been concern about the safety of the drivers, who
many feel have not been vetted sufficiently.
The landscape of private
transportation changed
dramatically when rideshare
company Uber first
launched their services.
They offered a premium
black car service as an
alternative to the traditional
taxi ride.
Historically, rideshare was
essentially carpooling where
the passenger often covered half of the cost of the trip. Both the driver and rider
were heading in the same direction and the goal was for the rider to subsidize the
cost of the trip for the driver.
Rideshare today is for profit and the driver has no intended destination, rather is
offering transportation services like a taxi. They use an app or website operated by
a third party that takes a fee for connecting riders and drivers.
How to use a ridesharing service
In order to use a ridesharing service,
the use of a smartphone is required.
You must have smartphone access in
the city where you happen to be. If you
are in a foreign country, this may
require a data connection.
You must create an account. This
requires the input of a credit or debit card number to which all your rides will be
billed. You must be sure at all times you are depending on this service that you
have available funds or credit in the account.
Benefits of ridesharing
Uber takes advantage of technologies that have become commonplace for most of
us: Smartphones and social networks. Sign up for an account with a rideshare
company, download the respective app, and with a few swipes you’ve set up a
customized ride for yourself, all without the help of a surly dispatcher. The cost
may be less than that of a regular taxi and you can obtain price quotes ahead of
time. (Who hasn’t endured the embarrassment of being a few dollars short at the
end of a taxi ride?) Additionally, you need not worry about carrying enough cash
as the credit card you’ve put on file will be charged. You can also be notified via
text when your ride has arrived - in inclement weather, a definite plus.
There are also benefits for rideshare drivers: Relatively easy income with flexible
scheduling and no special training required (although Uber does allow professional
chauffeurs and licensed taxi drivers to become independent contractors). What
does it mean for your safety when it’s very likely that your rideshare driver is an
Average Joe?
Ridesharing has been developing over the years. The concept is very widely
accepted worldwide and the goal is to do the following three things:
    Reduce traffic congestion
Reduce the number of trips a vehicle makes
Reduce the emissions that come from vehicles
The concept has taken the world of transportation by storm. People who own
private companies can sign up with a company that organizes ridesharing and then
offer commuters a ride. Modern technology has been leveraged by such companies
in order to make the services reliable. Most of them use apps, social media, and
even GPS to connect drivers to commuters who may be close to them.
The apps used for ridesharing have several advantages as follows:
   1. You don’t have to make cash payment.
   2. You are able to track where the driver is at any given moment.
   3. You are notified as the driver gets close to where you are.
   4. You can contact your driver as needed.
These advantages have made ridesharing so popular that regular taxis are having a
hard time competing. One of the things to note though is that ridesharing does not
eliminate other methods of transportation such as trains, taxis and buses. It simply
complements them.
Benefits:
   1. Alternative transportation –Technology has made alternative transportation
available to commuters. This means that people can get to where they need
to go conveniently and easily. People who don’t have the funds to purchase
a car, or who may have their car in the garage,
would otherwise have to travel by bus, train or
taxi in order to go shopping, to school, work or
some other place. Many times, they are
hindered by cost and convenience. Ridesharing
offers a service that is both convenient and cost
      effective.
   2. Cost effective – If you have ever had to take a
cab and got caught in traffic, then you know
the dreadful feeling of watching the meter tick.
Ridesharing is cheaper than taking a taxi since
you can have more than one person sharing the ride and also the cost.
   3. Ease of getting a ride – If you are thinking of catching a taxi at a taxi rank,
you may find yourself having to wait for a taxi to swing by. Additionally,
should there be others waiting for taxis, you would have to wait your turn. If
you are running late, this can be a major stressor. With rideshare, all you
have to do is use your app to locate a ride close to you. Once you have
indicated the location where you are and your destination, a driver will come
for you as quickly as possible.
Drivers who are friendly – Ridesharing drivers are very friendly and with the app,
you are actually able to rate your driver as well. This will generally keep the
drivers in check because nobody wants to get a negative review. The fact that the
app tracks the car means that most people feel safe and over time build a trustful
relationship with the said drivers
Methodology:
Primary Data: I will collect primary data by conducting a questionnaire survey
Secondary data: I have collected secondary data from internet websites, previous
surveys and from text book.
Analytical tools: I will use some graphical tools like Pie Charts, Histograms, and
Frequency Tables to present my data and also some statistical tools to support my
data through the use of Central Tendency analysis, Correlation & Regression
analysis, find the Standard Deviation, Variance for my data.
Hypothesis:
H0: Customers are satisfied with the service of these ride sharing apps.
H1: Customers are not satisfied with the service of these
ride sharing apps.
