Introduction: -

This project gives a general overview on what is general offer. It has been highlighted that
general offer is made to the public in general or society or community as a whole and can be
accepted by anyone who fulfills the terms and condition of the offer. Acceptance for the general
offer need not be expressed, the performance by the offeree according to the terms of offer is
sufficient to enforce the contract. General Offer comes under offer under section 2(a) of Indian
Contract Act, 1872.

Hypothesis: -

A General offer is an offer which is made to the public at large and anyone from the public can
accept it.

Statement of Problem: -

Determining what is General Offer and what are the conditions under which offer becomes
binding.

Objectives: -

1. To understand the meaning of general offer.

2. To analyze the conditions under which a general offer becomes binding.

3. To understand and comprehend development of general offer historically and globally.

4. To analyze the landmark judgments with regard to general offer.

Review of Literature: -

Indian contract Act and Specific Relief Act written by Pollock & Mulla (2010): - is one of
the classics in legal literature. This edition has discussed the details of the Contract Act, section
wise as well as concept wise. The recent 8 developments in the Law of contracts in other
commonwealth jurisdiction have also been included in the book. The learned author has made it
more intellectually inspiring the concept of unjust enrichment.
Contract and Specific Relief by Avtar Singh (2013): - is a popular and classic work. The work
deals with the intricacies of the contract law in a straight forward and lucid style. The book
covers many new developing areas in contract law which are of practical and academic
importance.

The Indian Contract Act by R.K. Bangia (2013): - This book deals with the principles of the
Law of Contract. This volume narrates the legal frame works for formulation of trade business
and commercial translation. This book is very useful to understand the basic concepts of topics
like Contingent Contracts.

Method of Study: -

The proposed method of study for this research work is the doctrinal method of study.

Contents: -

1. Introduction to general offer.

2. Development of general offer historically and globally.

3. Condition under which an offer becomes a general offer.

4. Conditions under which general offer becomes binding.

5. To analyze the landmark judgments with respect to general offer.
