• The new Culture & Arts Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects incorporates a contemporary art
museum (MICA), a 1,800-seat theatre with supporting facilities and a multipurpose hall.
• Its organic architectural language is defined by pedestrian routes that weave through the site to connect
with neighbouring streets.
• Providing views of the adjacent Meixi Lake from the city and giving access to the parks and walking trails
on the lake’s Festival Island, this ensemble of three separate cultural institutions creates external
courtyards where pedestrian routes intersect for outdoor events and sculpture exhibitions.
• The largest and most versatile cultural centre in Hunan province, the Culture & Arts Centre connects
directly with its station on Line 2 of Changsha’s new Metro System.
• Located on historic trade routes through China, the city of Changsha’s traditions as an important centre of
communications continues as one of the country’s leading media hubs with the centre’s Grand Theatre
hosting a popular programme of performances and television productions.
ASTHETIC STUDY
• Composition of dramatic curves expressing the artistic flowing of contemporary arts, and the
buildings themselves flow into the urban area fitting in with grace.
• - The exterior of each building of the center features the studio's signature white, fluid facades,
punctured by curving panes of glass.
• - The grand theatre acting as the focal point of plan, all three buildings are linked by sinuous
passageways and white planes, having wings and petals.
• - Strata(layers) of skylights and large openings along with the elevated walkways are main aesthetic
of the interior spaces.

• The Small Theatre (Multipurpose Hall) is characterized by its flexibility. With a maximum capacity of 500 seats, it can be adapted and
transformed to different configurations.
• It can therefore accommodate a broad range of functions and shows that span from banquets and commercial events to small plays,
fashion shows and music.
• A commercial attraction, this venue shares seamless public access to retail areas and restaurant facilities, which are seated in an open
and gently sunken courtyard linking visitors to and from the basement level.

specialties well-known in Film Production and Animation Production.
• The school was shortlisted for the AGA KHAN AWARD FOR ARCHITECTURE.
• It is a one story building which combines perfectly with the beautiful natural
environment that surrounds it.
ASTHETIC STUDY
• The complex five different areas - administration office, lecture room,
workshop, library and canteen - are all connected by an inserted forest
in the form of a greystone and concrete pathway punctuated by trees,
running centrally along a solid east-west and a broken north-south axis.
• Openings in the walls provide relaxation spaces and a link with the green
landscaping beyond.
• Over half a million handmade bricks were made locally and imbue the
space with a distinctly human scale and touch.

• Pancell studio is one of the pioneer animation studios which currently start to gain their position in
local field.
• It was established by a group of passionate youths in 2017. The studio was founded by Nyan Kyal Say
(son of cartoonist Aw Pi Kyal) and "Nobel Aung".
• As a well-known animation studio, they've done a large mount of projects such as movie trailers,
advertisements, and even music videos.
• Their famous piece is Sai Sai Kham Leng's "My Girlfriend is better than yours" music video.
• Big Bag's “Remember you" was their big hit music video too.
• It was chosen to be featured in international film festivals and won Best Music Film Award in
"Ringerike International Youth Film Festival".
• Since their success and influence grows bigger, the career of animation and digital artists has been
seen essential needed by the trend. So they not only do the commercial projects but also open
educational classes.
Functional Study
• Even if Pencell Studio is the leading studio in local market, their office is
still a residential apartment.
• It exists in the second floor of the building. Before entering the door,
there is a space used as foyer, keeping shoes on shelf. LIVING ROOM
• Right after entering into the office, what awaits is the living room where PRE-PDRODUCTION ROOM
they meet and discuss with the clients.
• They have three working rooms for studio works: pre- PRODUCTION ROOM
production,production and post-production rooms. POST-PRODUCTION ROOM
• In pre-production room, they first seek ideas about their concepts,
characters, and theme by drawings. BATHROOM
• In production room, the animation work starts.
• Post-production room is where they finalize the rough animations into a MEETING ROOM
quality one which is ready to be produced to public.
KITCHEN
• Other than these rooms , they also have a meeting room and a storage
space which would be turned into a mini-theatre soon. SOUND ROOM(IN FUTURE)
• They still lack a room for sound production so their animations can't
provide sound systems up until now. APARTMENT FLOOR PLAN
• Even though the animation and concept art is a potential business, it's not growing country widely yet.
• This may be the reason they couldn't work in an office building. Anyhow, they managed to develop their workspace into a friendly environment.
• There is no proper design or furnishing except their workspace furnitures.
• But they keep it clean and smart amidst the limits of apartment's layout and their budget.
• It would be better if they can develop into an office building and have specific rooms for each particular function and role of person.
