Scour Depth Calculations Report

The document contains calculations to determine scour depth upstream and downstream of a structure. Upstream, the maximum scour depth is calculated as 2.477 meters with a maximum scour level of 407.474 meters. Downstream, the maximum scour depth is calculated as 3.303 meters with a maximum scour level of 403.377 meters. Cutoffs are proposed at elevations within the upstream and downstream maximum scour levels.

SCOUR DEPTH CALCULATIONS

UPSTREAM :

Discharge (Q) = 30.706 cumecs.

Bed Width (L) = 16.000 mts.
M.F.L./ F.S.L. = + 409.951 m.
f ( silt factor ) = 2.000

Discharge per mtr. Width ( q ) = Q/L = 1.919 cumecs / mt.

Scour depth (d) = 1.35 * ( q² / f ) ^ 0.33

= 1.651 mts.

Max. Scour Depth = 1.5 * d = 2.477 mts.

Max. Scour Level =+ 409.951 - 2.477

=+ 407.474 m.

However cut off is proposed @ 407.400 m.

DOWNSTREAM :

Discharge (Q) = 30.706 cumecs.

Bed Width (L) = 16.000 mts.
M.F.L./ F.S.L. = + 406.680 m.
f ( silt factor ) = 2.000

Discharge per mtr. Width ( q ) = Q/L = 1.919 cumecs / mt.

Scour depth (d) = 1.35 * ( q² / f ) ^ 0.33

= 1.651 mts.

Max. Scour Depth = 2*d = 3.303 mts.

Max. Scour Level =+ 406.680 - 3.303

=+ 403.377 m.

However the cut off is proposed upto + 403.610 m.
