SCOPE
‘This document defines the overall Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems
requirement forall the buildings in the Dung Quat Refinery Project,
‘The Dung Quat Refinery Project includes the main refinery complex (Pl & P2) situated inland
approximately 2 kilometres from the coast, a product tankage/road loading area (P3) approximately 7
kilometres from the refinery and a Jetty complex 2 kilometres from the product tankage.
‘The buildings covered under this scope are buildings located in P1, P2 and P3 (including the Jetty
complex) which are:
= Control Building complexes; Central Control Complex (CCC), Jetty Control Complex
(ICC) & Satellite Control Complex (SCC).
= Process Interface Buildings; PIB1, PIB4 & PIB6
= Marshalling Rack Room Buildings; MRR1 & MRR2.
= Electrical Substations; SS1, S82, SS4, S85, SS7, SS8A, SSBB, SSBC, S89, SS10, SS10A, SSI
& S812.
= Specific purpose buildings; Laboratory, Fire Fighting Station, Fire Fighting Pump station,
Chemical/Catalyst store.
= Miscellaneous buildings; Truck Loading Gate House / Truck Loading Control
building, Truck Loading Drivers Facilities building and Jetty workshop/Marine equipment store.
Al buildings in the main Administration Complex (P7) north of the refinery are excluded from the scope
of this document.
OBJECTIVES.
‘The HVAC systems shall provide ventilation, air-conditioning and pressurisation as required, to buildings
in order to achieve the following:
= Human comfort conditions for occupied buildings.
- __Pressurisation in vital buildings and buildings located in hazardous area, to prevent the ingress of
hazardous hydrocarbon gases.
= Maintain slight positive pressure in non vital buildings located close to hazardous areas.
= Provide adequate dilution in rooms with sources of hazardous gas release.
= Removal of heat dissipated from equipment located in the room.
- Clean and dust free atmosphere for equipment.
- Maintain temperature and humidity controlled conditions for the safe and continued operation of
Vital equipment / systems (DCS, ESD, F&G, etc.): ere

‘The HVAC systems shall be designed in accordance with the Industry standards, guides and manuals
published mainly by ASHRAE, Project documents referred in Section 3.0 and design requirement
parameters listed herein.

CALCULATIONS
HVAC calculations shall be produced to support all HVAC systems, equipment sizing and selection.
Calculations shall take into account external design conditions, internal design conditions, heat loads,
ventilation rates and fresh air requirements.
‘The caleulation of system air flow rates for cooling shall be carried out using an approved design
calculation software package Carrier E-20 Software Hourly Analysis Program (HAP). Chilled Water
Piping design shall utilise PIPENET Software by Sunrise Corp.
Heating and cooling load calculations are to be based on:
= ASHRAE method as described in ASHRAE Handbook FUNDAMENTALS: ee

= Heat transfer coefficients
Heat load calculations will be performed adopting the respective transmission values of each building to
ascertain the total equipment capacities taking into account extemal and internal heat loads.
Extemal Heat Loads
Extemal heat loads shall take into account solar and transmission gains. The U values shall be
calculated for the building walls, glass and roof construction. The CLTD shall be corrected for the
specific geographic location.
Int t Loads
Internal heat loads shall be calculated taking into account activity of occupants heats, internal equipment
‘heat dissipated loads, lighting loads and any other significant heat emitting devices.
: Equipment heat dissipation shall be estimated for all equipment and panels located within the
rooms and confirmed by the supply vendor prior to finalizing the purchase of equipment.

Internal Design Conditions
‘The internal conditions to be achieved by the HVAC systems when subjected to heat loads imposed by the
external environment and internal heat sources, shall be estimated as follows:
+ Normally occupied areas:
All buildings except substations, normally unmanned buildings and Gate Houses Summer

‘The design conditions derived above are based on information available from Table 5.23 & 5.2.4 below,

Fresh Air Quantity
‘The amount of the make up air will take into account the following minimum requirements:
= The minimum fresh air quantity required forthe occupants
= Make up air quantity to balance specific exhaust such as from conference room, and toilets, et.
Note 1: The ventilation shall be such that the direction of the air motion in the building shall be
‘maintained from non contaminated area to contaminated area.
Note 2; Exhaust air from “clean” rooms shall be used as supply air to other spaces such as toilets, via
corridors.

5.5 COLD INSULATION - MATERIALS AND THICKNESSES
35.1 HVAC DUCTING
Material shall be semi - rigid fiberglass or rockwool board designed exclusively for duct lining
‘work of S0mm thick with density not less than 32kg/m3 and thermal conductivity factor shall not
be exceeding 62.Swim/deg. C/m2 at 24deg. C mean temperature. The interior insulation shall
conform to the requirements of class *O” BS 476 Part 5 & 6 and NFPA 90A & 90Bwhen tested in
accordance to UL 181 Class 1 standards for safety of airducts and shall be capable of withstanding,
air velocity of up to 23m’s without delamination or erosion.

5.6 AVAILABLE UTILITIES
- Electricity
The electrical system voltages for the facilities will be as follows:
~ Secondary LV system: 400V, 50 Hz, 3 phases, 4 wires.
Rated voltage of electrical distribution system.
‘The following voltage levels shall be used to provide electrical power for various purposes.
= motors greater or equivalent to0.37 kW: 400 V, $0 Hz, 3 phases, 3 wires
= motors below 0.37 kW + 230.V, SO Hz, 1 phase, 2 wires
= control panel 230V AC, or 400V AC as
applicable.
~ Emergency Power Supply
In the event of a normal power failure, the room conditions shall be maintained such that the
‘operation of vital equipment within the rooms shall not be jeopardised. Hence to ensure continuity
of supply to selected HVAC equipment, the following buildings/areas shall be provided with

Note 1: Air conditioning will be provided only for rooms housing vital equipment; control room,
auxiliary room, UPS room, engineering room. Battery room exhaust shall be maintained to
ensure dilution. For all Blast buildings and Control Buildings, pressurization shall be maintained
to ensure safety to occupants is not compromised. In all other non-vital rooms of these buildings,
ventilation shall be provided.
Note: A significant reduction in Cooling capacity will be evident taking into account the major
reduction in E&I equipment heat dissipation resulting in reduction in building load. Therefore
independent re-citculating air conditioning units (on emergency supply) shall be provided for
‘these rooms when the building main air conditioning system is shut down during a normal power
failure
Note 2: To maintain ventilation and positive pressure,
Equipment for the automatic changeover ftom the normal to the standby feeder will be housed in the
HVAC Control Panel via flow switch in supply ducting for positive identification of fan failure.
= Instrument Air
‘Not required. All actuated dampers if used shall be solenoid/motorised type. The use of motorised
dampers shall be limited in order to maintain the simplicity of system design which would result in
minimal maintenance.

‘The gas detectors shall be voting 2002 and shall function as follows;
+1002 - Alarm at F&G System and local FAP for gas alarm, See note below.
#2002 - _Imaddition to the above, close gas tight dampers / trip HVAC System.
(Note: The F&G shall transmit a signal to Building Fire Alarm Panel (FAP) to drive the local building
gas alarm.)
HVAC inlet gas detectors in each building will be hardwired to the Process F&G system and one
hardwired output from Process F&G system will be connected to the HVAC Control Panel (for damper
control, ete. by HVAC Control Panel).
‘One common alarm from the HVAC Control Panel will be connected to the F&G system for further
display on DCS for common HVAC fault signal. This would also include common fire damper fault /
alarm.
‘One common hardwired output from HVAC Control panel will be connected to the Building Fire Alarm
Panel (FAP) for common fire damper failure / activation alarm,
Additionally, the HVAC Control panel will receive a confirmed fire (from smoke / heat detection / FM 200
system, etc.) signal from the Building Fire Alarm Panel (FAP) to trip / shutdown HVAC System.
SELECTION OF ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENT EQUIPMENT IN RELATION TO HAZARDOUS.
AREAS
All electrical and instrument equipment of HVAC Systems for all buildings are currently deemed to be
located in areas classified as non-hazardous “safe” area.

General
Centralised Water Cooled Chilled Water plant complete with pumps and cooling towers shall be provided
for this building system, A chiller plant is necessary due to the high cooling requirements of the Central
Control Complex as it would not be prudent to use DX systems. Owing to it’s close proximity to the CCC
the Substation 1 building shall share the chiller plant system.
‘The airside of the HVAC for the Central Control Complex shall consist of two systems.
= One 24 hour operation system to serve critical rooms housing vital equipment (DCS, F&G,
UPS, etc.) which are required to be in operation under all emergencies.
= The second system shall only be in operation during normal working hours.
In addition to cooling, the air handling units shall supply the fresh air to the control room building
Additionally DX split units shall be mounted in vital rooms; control room, auxiliary room, engineering
room, UPS room to ensure cooling in the event of a major power shut down. These units along with
the AHU fan of the 24 hour operation system shall be on emergency power supply.
Fresh Air Intake
Fresh air shall be supplied to the system to replace air that has been exhausted or lost
through door openings. The fresh air intake shall be protected by a blast valve and a gas tight damper.
‘The fresh air duct shall be an air tight, all welded construction.
Chilled Water Air Handling Units
‘This building is categorized as a blast building and the AHU’s shall be located within the building. A 2
x 100% (duty, standby) AHU configuration shall serve the Engineering room, Control room, UPS.
room, R&D room, Supervisor's office, Telecom Frame room and Battery room. These rooms shall be
‘on a 24 hour operation mode. This unit will also be provided with emergency power to provide
pressurization and ventilation to the building in the event of normal power failure.
‘The Mess, Permit office, Printing room, Office area, Store, Visitor’s room, Supervisor's office,
Conference room, First aid room, Corridor and Male / female locker shall be served by a 1x 100%
(@uty) unit AHU as these are areas of normal working hours.
Make —up Air System
‘The building shall be pressurized to a minimum of SOPa to prevent the ingress of hydrocarbon gases.

In addition to the air required for pressurisation, the make-up unit will supply air to compensate for the
various specific exhausts.
‘Ait shall be supplied to the rooms through ceiling mounted diffusers or grilles. All diffusers and grilles,
are to be fitted with flow regulating devices. 10% of the raised floor shall be grill type to allow for
under floor ventilation.
Air Exhaust System
Air shall be exhausted from the Battery room, Printing room, Store, First aid room, Male / female

handling units located in the HVAC plant room, each with 100% of the total cooling capacity. Fresh
air shall be provided to ensure the pressurisation of the Instrument Auxiliary room.

A duty, standby HVAC system, comprising of Air Cooled Condensing Units (ACCU) coupled with
ducted DX Air Handling Units (AHU) shall serve the Instrument Auxiliary room, UPS room and the
Battery room. Air from the Battery room shall not be re-circulated and shall be exhausted via a 2 x.
100% (duty, standby) exhaust fan configuration. The Instrument Auxiliary room shall be maintained at

HVAC SYSTEM OPERATIONS
NORMAL OPERATION
The ventilating and air conditioning system shall be operated either automatically or manually. In
automatic operation all the equipment of the system shall be started in sequence from a single starting
device in the HVAC panel.
All control devices necessary for the correct operation shall be fitted in the main control panel located in
the HVAC plant room.
EMERGENCY SITUATION
The three following emergency situations are to be considered :
= heat or fire detection and gas detection in the fresh air intake.
= failure of the normal power supply.

‘When the area is declared gas free, reversion of gas dampers to the normal position will be achieved by a
single manval reset device from the HVAC Control Panel.
Heat or fire detection will be intimated by the Fire Alarm system as well as fire dampers (fusible link
type) with proximity limit switch. In this event the HVAC system shal trip.
In the event of the activation of fixed gascous extinguishing systems (FM 200 system) the HVAC system
shall trip.
Failure of the normal power supply to vital equipment
‘Vital equipment shall have provision to change over to the emergency power supply (genset).
In case of failure of the normal power supply, the equipment and systems connected to the Emergency
Electrical power supply will continue to run,
‘All equipment, shall revert automatically to the normal mode of operation after return of the normal
electrical power supply.
Loss of The Equipment On Duty
In the case of the duty unit failing, the stand by equipment shall start automatically. In the case of failure
of both duty and stand by units, the fresh air (AHU) gas tight damper if installed shall close.
HVAC SYSTEM CONTROLS
All material, equipment and services required for a complete system of temperature and humidity controls
shall be supplied in the HVAC package.
‘Temperature and humidity controls for all air-conditioning units shall be electrically / electronic operated
‘and shall be PLC or microprocessor based. ‘The control system shall be complete including all necessary
thermostats, humidistats, relays, manual switches, controllers, dampers, wiring and alll accessories
necessary to perform the intended operation as specified. All controls for HVAC will be stand alone
within the HVAC system only and not linked to the plant DCS system except for the receipt of fire alarm
signal (for system trip) from the main fire alarm panel / DCS. A summarized system fault signal (volt free)
shall be available for monitoring in the DCS.
‘Sequence Starting and Control
Automatic sequential starting of the air-conditioning system shall be provided, however manual-off-
automatic selector switches and push buttons shall be incorporated for manual operation / maintenance.

Standby machines shall be arranged to replace failure of the duty refrigerating machines by means of
changeover selector switches without disrupting the sequence of operation.
Control of other equipment
Air-cooled split type units shall be supplied with inbuilt controls for high-low pressure switches,
compressor overload and circuit breakers.
Ventilation / exhaust fans shall start / stop from their respective control panels unless specified otherwise.
Manual-off-auto switches shall be provided at the master control panel.
Operation in fire mode
During a fire mode signal all HVAC units shall shut down within the same zone. (Except for individual
split system). All fans (except smoke spill fans) in the auto position shall be stopped when fire alarm is
activated. Any fan / unit operating in an area served by fire suppression system (FM 200 system) shall be
de-energized when the local system is activate.
‘Temperature and Humidity Controls
‘Thermostats and humidistats shall be used for controlling the operation of air-conditioning equipment to
achieve the design indoor conditions. Safety devices and high temperature cut-off switches, etc, shall be
installed to prevent malfunction which might otherwise result in hazardous situations, eg. overheating of
in-duct heaters.
For air-conditioning systems in 24-hour operation buildings, in-duct electric re-heater shall be installed (if,
deemed necessary) to provide the necessary sensible heat during low sensible heat load conditions (i.e. at
night, rain or monsoons).
‘Thermostat / humidistat shall be low voltage, electric / electronic type with control adjustment of
appropriate range. Details of controls shall be specified as shown on drawings and specifications.
Chiller Controls
Control and safe operation of chillers shall include at least the following:
= Suction, discharge and oil pressure gauges.

10.0 BASIC EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
10.1 CENTRALISED WATER COOLED CHILLED WATER SYSTEM
Complete water cooled chilled water system, inclusive of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, chilled water
AHU's, chilled water piping and condenser water piping shall be provided. Air cooled chillers shall be
duty / standby configuration rated for a total load of 100kW. Chilled water is pumped to various AHU"s
serving the CCC & $S1 Buildings via a closed cireuit piping system c/w cold insulation to prevent losses.
Chilled water pumps shall be suitable sized and placed in a duty / standby configuration. A pressurized
expansion tank shall be provided on the chilled water circuit complete with bleed valves, over pressure
reliefs, strainers, etc. Condenser water ftom the chiller is cooled via the use of cooling towers located
nearby. Cooling towers are designed for a N+1 configuration and shall be complete with make up water
tank and an automatic chemical dosing system connected to the condenser water circuit. Total heat
rejection from the N+1 cooling towers shall be 1020Kw or greater at an outdoor temperature of 42°C.
Condenser pumps shall be suitably sized for the condenser water flow and placed in a duty / standby
configuration.
Water Cooled Liquid Chiller
‘The number ad type of chillers specified shall have a 10% excess margin from the required duty to allow
for fature expansion. All packaged liquid chillers compressors shall be completely factory assembled and
tested. The chillers shall be designed to operate on R134 or equivalent CFC free refrigerant.
‘Unless otherwise specified the cooling capacity of each liquid chiller shall be based on the following

Cooling Tower
Cooling towers shall be of mechanical induced draught type, crossflow or counterflow arrangement, with
heat rejection capacities based on the following conditions.
Entering water temperature : 36.11 deg C
Leaving water temperature : 30.56 deg C
Ambient temperature 42.0 degC
‘The cooling towers shall be of modular design, where the modules can be assembled to form a row of
cooling towers. Each module shall be provided with individual basin, sump and internal partition wall such
that a module can be taken out for maintenance without affecting the operation of other cooling towers.
Each cooling tower shall be complete with motor, fan, casing, infill, water distribution system and
accessories.
The cooling tower casing including basin and sump shall be of fibreglass reinforced polyester material. The
basin shall be self cleaning with drain fitings.
Al supporting and structural components of the cooling tower that are made of steel or ferrous material
shall be hot-dip galvanised, and further protected against corrosion with zinc chromatized aluminium finish
‘where exposed to a higher degree of corrosion. All bolts and nuts shall be of stainless steel material.
Infill shall be of wave formed sheets of ultra-violet rays treated polyvinyl chloride (PVC), suitable for
operation with inlet water temperature up to 55 deg C. Infill shall be easily removable from side without
dismantling the tower.
Drift eliminators shall be designed to reduce drift losses to not more than 0.20% of circulated water.

Air Handling Units
Casings shall be of sectionalized construction and completely fabricated of galvanized steel, internally
insulated with 25.4mm thick by .024 grams per cubic cm density fiberglass board insulation with
centrifugal, forward curved or airfoil type fans in accordance with AMCA requirements.
Coils shall be ARI certified and constructed of seamless copper tubing with aluminum fins. shall. Coil
face velocities shall not exceed 2.54 m/sec. Distributors, liquid solenoid valves and hot gas inlets shall be
factory mounted.
Filter section shall be factory built, flanged for duct connections.
‘The motor enclosure shall be TEFC for all applications regardless of the area electrical classification

‘These units shall be certified in accordance with ARI Standards 365-82.
Condenser coils shall be of nonferrous construction with aluminium plate fins (here-site coating) and
‘copper tubes here-site coated. Condensing fans and motors shall be direct-driven propeller-type,
arranged for vertical discharge. Motors and electrical components shall be suitable for service in the
atmospheres in which the condensing units are installed.
Compressors shall be of serviceable semi-hermetie or hermetic type. Controls shall be factory wired with
high and low pressure switches and overload cut off devices. Unit wiring shall incorporate a positive
acting timer to prevent short cycling of compressor if power is interrupted. Timer shall prevent
compressor from restarting for approximately five (5) minutes after shutoff.
Split Air-Conditioners
‘These units are to be installed in the control room, auxiliary room, engineering room, UPS room and
shall be utilised only during a normal power failure and shall be on emergency power supply. The
capacity of these units shall be sized for the reduced heat dissipated load of internal heat emitting
equipment.
‘The units shall comprise of indoor wall ceiling mounted fan coil evaporators with remote control unit and
air cooled condensing units of standard manufacturer's offer.

Fans and motors shall be selected to provide air flow rates of 10% more than that specified against the
‘corresponding, increase in system resistance. Fans shall be AMCA rated and camry the AMCA seal or

Exhaust Fans For Non Ducted System
Exhaust fans shall be the propeller and wall mounted type. Fan motor shall be the totally enclosed type
and lubricated for life with thermal cut out. Fan blades shall be made of glass reinforced polypropylene.
Casing shall be made of hot dipped galvanized steel which shall be finished with one coat of epoxy wash
primer (10 microns) and two coats of polyurethane (50 microns each). The construction of the exhaust fan
shall be weatherproof.
Exhaust Fans For Ducted System

Casing shall be made of hot dipped galvanised steel which shall be finished with one coat of epoxy wash
primer (10 microns) and two coats of polyurethane (50 microns each). The construction of the exhaust
fan shall be weatherproof. Anti vibration mounts shall be provided with the fans.
Centrifugal Fans
Centrifugal fans shall be forward curved, aerofoil blade, limit load type complete with V-belt drives, drive
guards, motors, steel bases, anti-vibration mountings. Fan discharge velocity at design air flow shall not
exceed 11 m/s.
Impellers shall be hot dipped galvanised stee! all welded construction with die-formed aerofoil blades and
front plates. The impeller hub shall be securely keyed to the drive shaft balanced both statically and
dynamically.
Drive shafts shall be machined high tensile steel and shall be stepped to facilitate easy impeller removal
‘The fan shall be driven by not less than two metric vee-belts via taper lock pulleys. Drive guards shall be
provided as part of the total fan assembly (factory installed) and shall cover all moving parts.
All exhaust fans shall be single inlet single width (SISW), with overhung impeller. Fan and motor bases
shall be fully welded hot dipped galvanised heavy steel construction complete with anti-vibration
mountings.
Axial Flow Fans
‘Axial fans shall have flanged hot dipped galvanised tubular casings extending over the length of the fan
and motor, unless specified otherwise by manufacturer.
‘Non-overloading acrofoil fans shall have adjustable pitch cast aluminium alloy impellers or may have
adjustable pitch polypropylene impellers on fans up to 300 diameter and glass reinforced polyester resin
{impellers on fans up to 765 diameter.
Propeller Fans
Propeller fans shall be of approved manufacture of the in-duct diaphragm, wall mounting or roof cowl
mounting type.
Fans shall have die cast aluminium, hot dipped galvanised steel or pressed aluminium blades mounted in
hot dipped galvanised stel, cast ion or diecast aluminium hubs and complete with hot dipped galvanised
steel or aluminium brackets.
‘Wall mounted fans shall be of the ring mounted type complete with hot dip galvanised ring mountings,
wire mesh guards and aluminium louvre shutters. In addition, hot dip galvanised external wall cowls
shall be provided for external fans.
HVAC CONTROL PANEL
‘The control panel shall be free standing, floor or wall mounted with front access. The ingress protection
for indoor panel shall be at least 1P42 and for outdoor shall be at least IPSS. Cabinet rating shall be
suitable for that Area Classification.' ee

Incoming and outgoing cable entry for field cabling shall be from the top of the panel. Removable gland
plates shall be provided.
‘Terminal blocks, wiring raceways, supports, brackets, etc. shall be arranged to allow access to both sides
of all terminal blocks. Wiring raceways shall be designed to permit cable runs to be grouped. Detailed
specifications shall be prepared for HVAC Control panels dove tailing the project electrical and wiring
requirements.
A volt fice signal for equipment malfunction alarm shall be provided for interface with main DCS panel.
The control panel shall include the following minimum controls for each equipment with standby
facility:-
- DOL type motor starters
- electrical interlock between the run/standby equipment to prevent both running simultaneously
during auto mode
~ — hand-off-auto selector switch
- visual / audible indications for circuit / equipment malfunction alarm
~ visual indication for power
~ visual indications for respective equipment run / stop indications
~ start and stop facility for each and all equipment motors
~ air flow failure malfunction alarm
‘The control panel for fans only (DB boards) shall include the following minimum controls for each
equipment with standby facility
= DOL type motor starters
= hand-off-auto selector switch
- visual indication alarms for function / malfunction indications
- visual indication for power
= visual indications for respective equipment run / stop indications
= master button for sequential starting
= start and stop buttons for each fan

DUCTING
Ducts shall be made of galvanised steel! sheet. Supply ducts for treated air are to be thermally
insulated. External duct shall be intemally insulated, In duct noise attenuators shall be provided where
necessary.
Motorised dampers shall be fitted at the inlet & outlet of recirculating air handling units, interlocked
with the relevant fans.
Fire dampers shall be installed in all cases where ducts pass through fire rated walls in order to
‘maintain the integrity of the fire wall. All wall crossings into and out of, the HVAC plant room shall

‘All ductwork systems shall be complete with transitions, bends, tees, supports, dampers offsets, flexible
connections, take-off and similar fittings necessary for the balancing and full operation of the air
distribution system and shall be fully detailed on construction drawings.
Ductwork Construction and Installation
All ductwork shall be constructed and installed in accordance with Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning
Contractors National Associated Inc. (SMACNA) - HVAC Duct Construction Standards Metal and
Flexible and the following clauses.
Schedule of Ductwork Classification
Pressure Classification is specified in SMACNA HVAC Dust Construction Standards Metal and Flexible
‘Tables 1.1 to 1.9 inclusive for rectangular duct, Tables 3.1 to 3.3 inclusive for cireular duct.
Low Pressure Ductwork Specification
Construct and install all sheet metal in accordance with latest ASHRAE and SMACNA
recommendations. Provide variations in duct size and additional duct fittings as required to clear
obstructions and maintain clearances, as approved by the Engineer at no extra cost.
Ductwork, including fittings, shall be made of commercial grade galvanized shect of the following
thickness

Fire Dampers
Fire dampers shall be provided and installed at all positions where ducts pass through fire-rated partition
walls floors and where they enter vertical masonry shafts and where indicated on the drawings.
Al fire dampers are required to be supplied and installed under this contract shall be in compliance with
‘TCVN or AS 1682:1974 and to the approval ofall authorities having jurisdiction
Approved fire dampers of either the drop curtain or multiple blade type may be used. The fire damper
shall be held in the open position by means of a fusible link rated at 68°C. An access door shall be
provided at each fire damper to permit inspection and replacement of the fusible link. ‘The fusible link
shall be accessible from the room side where fire damper is installed in duct take-offS from masonry
shafts, All fire dampers shall be supplied complete with proximity type limit switches for position
indication to HVAC Control panel.
3.5mm mild steel sleeves where ducts passthrough masonry walls are to be provided. The gap between

120 TESTING AND COMMISSIONING
‘A detailed Testing and Commissioning Procedure shall be developed for approval prior to the
‘commissioning exercise.
Each item of equipment individually, each sub-system and each complete system as a whole shall be
checked and adjusted to the design duties and generally as follows:
= Air Systems
= Water Systems
= Controls, Gauges and Instrumentation
- Electrical Control Panels and Switchboards
‘Asa minimum, the Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning procedures shall include the following:
= Pressure and leak test ofall ductwork as outlined in "SMACNA"
- Temperature and humidity measurement (by Recorders) continuously for 48 hours in all
conditioned rooms.
- Each reffigeration compressor shall be tested in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction,
: Refrigerant pipework shall be tested to 250 psi with Anhydrous Nitrogen refrigerant
‘mixture, evacuated and dehydrated before final charge.
- The operation of all indication, recording and associated equipment and the visual / audible
alarms and associated relays shall be tested under full working conditions.
‘Manufacturers! test certificates for all proprietary manufactured items.
During testing all air handling systems and fans shall be fitted with temporary filters which shall be
replaced before handover of systems
All testing and commissioning shall be by competent personnel. A complete set of test log sheets of the
settings and readings of all controls, gauges and instruments shall be maintained throughout the
commissioning period.
