1. Tell about yourself?

Ans: My Self Jainulabdin. I am having more than 3 experiences as a Revit MEP modeler in the
field of construction by using software’s like AutoCAD, Revit, Duct calculator, Relux and Dilux.
I am having rich experience on Electrical Background. Later I had joined in SVS MEP Solution
and started working as a Revit MEP modeler from 2014 to till now. In SVS MEP Solution. I had
worked on international and domestic projects. My International Projects which has been worked
for Dubai and Qatar. My last project was Dubai Hospital Project. In this project I have been
worked for the Lighting and Large Power.

2. What is Plan Region?

Ans: Plan Region is a region where we can see the Top levels and Bottom levels of the drawing
in the associated level for the selected area in the drawing.

3.What is Project Orientation?

Ans: Project Orientations are two types (i) Project North (ii) True North

(i) Project North is the North which is as per the our construction in the project.

(ii) True North is the North which is as per the site construction.

4. How to create a View Template?

Ans: View Template we can create Two ways

(i) Go To View → Select View Template → Create Template for current view.

(ii) Go to Properties Panel → Select View Template → Create Template for current view.

5. How to copy View Template From one File to another File? Is it Possible?

Ans: Yes, We can copy the View Template From one File to another File by using Transfer
Project Standards.
6. What is meant by Builders Work? How can we draw it?

Ans: Builders work is the work which is assign to the Builder(i.e. Architect (or) Structural
Engineer) to Provide the Wall opening and Slab opening (or) Shaft Opening. From MEP
Engineers.

Combined Drawing is called Combined Builders work.

7. What is Difference between Contract Drawing and Schematic Drawing?

Ans: Contract Drawing means the drawings coming from Consultant. Schematic Drawing also
one of the part of Contract Drawing Schematic Drawings indicating as per Electrical Standards
like Load scheduling for the entire Project. As Per Mechanical Standards like Chilled Water
Supply and air Flow for the entire Project. Simply we can say the Schematic Drawings as Single
Line Drawing for the project.

8. What is View Port?

Ans: In Revit View Port is nothing but Tile Window (WT). by entering the WT command we
can see the all opening windows of the project.

In AutoCAD View Port used for the sheet settings. From the View Port Only we can give
total scaling of the drawing.

9. What is Drafting View?

Ans: Drafting View is nothing but 2D view only means Annotation category only.

10. What is Far Clip offset?

Ans: When we select the Section We can see the Far Clip offset value in Properties Panel. If we
change the Far clip offset value we can see the Front Elevation as far as away.

11. What is meant by Shared Parameters?

Ans: Shared Parameters are used in multiple projects and families. It Can appears Schedules and
Tags.
12. Can we scale a Parametric Family?

Ans: No. We can't Scale the Parametric Family. If we select the Parametric Family In Modify
Tab Scale Command is not activated.

13. Can we Delete the Default Duct System?

Ans: No.

14. Can We create new Duct System in Revit?

Ans: Yes.

15. Can We Link the Auto CAD File in Revit?

Ans: Yes. We can link the Auto CAD File in Revit in Two ways

(i) Through Link CAD

(ii) Import CAD

16. Can we copy the Linked Levels in Revit?

Ans: Yes we can copy the Linked Levels in Revit By using Copy / Monitor in Collaborate Tab.

17. Can only one person work in central File?

Ans: No. multiple persons can work in central file. only one person can work in local file.

18. Can We Link the PDF File in Revit?

Ans: No. There is no option to link the PDF File in Revit.

19. Can Transfer Project Standards From one Project to Another Project?

Ans: Yes. we can Transfer Project Standards From one Project to Another Project by using
Transfer Project Standards in Manage Tab.

20. Can we load Revit File as a Group?

Ans: Yes We can load Revit File as a Group by using Load as a Group in Insert Tab.
21. Can we Put Annotation in 3D view in Revit?

Ans: Yes. We can Put Annotation in 3D view in Revit by using 3D View Home Lock Button.

22. Can we change the color of the default Duct System?

Ans: Yes. We can change the color of the default Duct System. Go to Project Browser →
Families → Duct Systems → Select the Required Duct → Right Click → Type Properties.

23. Can We export Revit File into .RFA File Format?

Ans: No. It is not possible to transfer Revit File in to .RFA File Format.

24. Can we check the clashes between Current Project and linked Revit file?

Ans: Yes. We can check the clashes between Current Project and linked Revit file by using
Interference check in Collaborate Tab.

25. Is it possible to create Central File without worksets?

Ans: No. It is not possible to create Central File without worksets. Because there is no work
sharing between us.

26. Can we see the element ID in default property?

Ans: No. We cannot see the element ID in default property. The major drawback in Revit is We
cannot see the element ID in default property. But in Naviswork we can see the element ID.

27. What is difference between central and local files?

Ans: Central File is a multiple user file where as local file is a single user file.

28. What is meant by fatal error?

Ans: In regularly we can see the number of errors in Auto CAD and Revit. In Auto CAD we can
see the Automation error where as in Revit we can see the Fatal error. Fatal error is occur due to
inconvenience typing of commands.
29. Can We change the parameters in Revit file?

Ans: Yes. We can change the parameters in Revit file.

30. Can We change the Units in Revit file?

Ans: Yes. We can change the Units in Revit file. Go to Manage Tab → Project Units.

31. What is meant by Reload Latest?

Ans: Reload Latest means it load the Updates From Central File to Local copy of the project. It
will be highlighted in the local file only. Reload latest option available in collaborate tab.

32. What is difference between Type and Instance Parameter in families?

Ans: Type parameter is enables if we modify the parameter value which applies to all elements
of the family type. Instance parameter is enables if we modify the parameter value separately for
every Instance.

Link CAD as Type Parameter where as Import CAD as Instance Parameter.

33.Can We check the interference between two linked files?

Ans: No. We cannot check the interference between two linked files.

34. What is meant by diversity factor?

Ans: There is two types of loads (i) Estimated Load (ii) Maximum Demand

Estimated Load is load which will be provided by regulators

Maximum Demand is the load which will calculated by our self.

35. How to start a Project? (or) What are the needs to start before the project?

Ans: (i) Architecture Drawing (ii) Structural Drawing (iii) Reflected Ceiling Plan (iv) CAD
linked files (v) Specification of which are involved for the project.
36. How to give the material color for Family creation?

Ans: We can give the material color for Family Creation by adding Material Parameter in
Family.

37. What is meant by Symbolic Line?

Ans: Symbolic Line we can see in 2D Annotation only when we creating the Family.

38. How to change the color of specific element in the whole drawing?

Ans: Select the element → Right Click → Override Graphics in a view →By Element →
Projection Lines.

39. What is meant by Parametric and Non Parametric Families?

Ans: If we select the Parameters of any family in the Edit Type (or) Type Property we can see
the parameters is called the Parametric Family. If we cannot see the parameters is called the Non
Parametric Family.

40. Explain about worksets?

Ans: For Worksharing Purpose.

41.At what Height switches and sockets are installed?

Ans: There are different types of sockets 6A, 16A and 20A sockets. 6A sockets which is used
work station areas and any other services are installed in 450mm From FFL to centre of the
socket. whereas 16A sockets are installed depending upon AC height Whereas Switches are
installed 1400mm from FFL to centre of the switch.

42. What is meant by Ring Circuit and Radial Circuit?

Ans: More than four 6A sockets in a circuit is called Ring circuit. For the ring circuit showing
circuit number for both sides. Below four 6A sockets in a circuit is called Radial circuit. For the
radial circuit showing circuit number for single side.
43. What is meant by .RCP file format?

Ans: Point Cloud Files are in .RCP file format. Point cloud Used By Arch & Structural
Modeling Purpose. Point Cloud Files are the 3D image Laser Scanning Files.

44. What is meant by .RCS file format?

Ans: It standards for Rich Client Platform (3D images). Which can be shown in the family
creation.

45. What is IFC?

Ans: Issued For Construction. it is 3rd stage of drawings which is also called as Final
Construction Issue Drawings

46. What do you meant by Underlay and Halftone?

Ans: Underlay means if we want to see Top level (or) Bottom Level in associated level Halftone
means to reduce the brightness of the element in the associated level.

47. What is meant by Temporary View Property? Where we can see it?

Ans: When we are working in View Templates no need to go the View Templates We can
arrange the Temporary View Property if we want to change any changes it can be applicable.
unnecessary go to view template we can change through Temporary View Property. Temporary
View Property we can see in Access Bar.

48. What is difference between Model Group and Detail Group?

Ans: Model Group is the 3D Group. Detail Group is the 2D Group.

49.Can We do Wall openings and Ceiling openings in the linked Architecture File?

Ans: Ye We can do Wall openings and Ceiling openings in the linked Architecture File.

50. How to select any element by using element ID?

Ans: The major drawback in Revit is We cannot see the element ID in default property. If we
know the element ID we can see the element by using Select by ID in Manage Tab.
51. How to lock a select Phase in the Panel Scheduling?

Ans: We can lock the selected Phase by using lock option in Panel Schedule.

52. What the use of collaborate?

Ans: Collaborating is nothing but migrating (or) dividing. The Process of dividing a element
from linked file is called as collaborate. This process is used for dividing or coping the levels or
girds or walls etc from the linked file.

53. Difference between Reference Plane and Reference Line?

Ans: Reference Line means its just a line. like Detail line.

Reference Plane is the plane by drawing the reference plane we can see the N or S, E or W
elevation of the drawing when we draw on the top view.

54. What is the purpose of creating template?

Ans: We cannot open the .RVT file without opening the template. unless we open the .RTE file
Saved in .RVT file.

55. How can we place a hosted family without wall or ceiling?

Ans: By using Reference Plane we can place the hosted family.

56. What is difference between Section and Scope Box?

Ans: In Section Box we can see maximum two floor of that level. In Scope Box we can see
entire floors.

57. What is the difference between hosted and un hosted element?

Ans: Hosted element means it depends upon another element. Un hosted element means it
independent upon another element.

58. Can we prepare a Ducts, Cable Trays and Pipe Sizes in default Template?

Ans: Yes we can prepare a Ducts, Cable Trays and Pipe Sizes in default Template.
59. Standard Paper Sizes?

Ans: A0 → 1189 X 841 mm, A1 → 841 X 594mm, A2 → 594 X 420mm, A3 → 420 X 297 mm
& A4 → 297 X 210 mm.

60. Explain the Title Block?

Ans: Title Block is used for Sheet setting. The Block represents the client name, consultant
name, drawn by, Approved by & Scaling.

61. What do you mean by label?

Ans: Labels are used in the creation of Tagging Family. By using Label we can add no of
parameters in the tagging.

62. What is the difference between Duct and Duct placeholder?

Ans: Duct having Duct fittings. Duct placeholder does not having any duct fittings.

63. Can we give the tagging for revision cloud?

Ans: Yes. We can give the tagging for revision cloud.

64. What is site plan, key plan and part plan?

Ans: Site plan which represents the site location. It does not having any scaling.

Key plan which represents the Whole floor plan. It is having 1:100 (or) 1:150 (or) 1:200 scale.

Part plan which represents parts of the whole key plan. it is having 1:50 scale.

65. What is meant by model view and layout view?

Ans: Model view used for drafting in AutoCAD. Layout view used for Printing Purpose in
AutoCAD.

66. What is the purpose of filters?

Ans: if we are working on one category, in this category having more sub categories then we are
using the filters.
67. What is meant by view title in the annotation?

Ans: In the sheets which showing the Drawing name, Scaling details.

68. What is the maximum space between two services like electrical and ducting?

Ans: Minimum 300 mm Maximum depends upon the project specification.

69. Is it possible to edit the sheet to placing the drawing?

Ans: Yes. It is possible to edit the sheet to placing the drawing by using active view.

70. What do you mean by load classifications?

Ans: Every Electrical Equipment we can see the load classification. load classification used for
giving the diversity factor.

71. What is the maximum load for 1-ɸ?

Ans: 4KW.

72. what are the types of DB required for the outputs ?

Ans: 2 way, 4 way, 6 way upto 30 way.

73. How do you hide a home branch in the wiring?

Ans: Go to ES → Wiring → Show tick marks → never.

74. What do you meant by array?

Ans: In Linear array we can arrange straight path of the elements. In Radial array we can arrange
360 degree angle path of the elements.

76. Difference between Duplicate with detailing and Duplicate as dependent?

Ans: Duplicate as dependent used for part plans. Duplicate with detailing used for the
preparation of the key plans. Duplicate is used for model view.
77. What is the project document?

Ans: Project documentation means providing Texting, Tagging & Dimensions of the whole
project.

78. what are the different types of wires?

Ans: There are three types of wires (i) Arc wiring (ii) Spline wiring (iii) chamfered wiring.

79. What is the difference between copy and copy to clipboard?

Ans: Copy is used for copy the project from one project file to another project file. copy to
clipboard we can copy the that project itself.

80. Can we copy section view from one file to another file?

Ans: No. we cannot copy section view from one file to another file.

81. Can we copy Family one file to another file?

Ans: Yes. we can copy Family one file to another file.

82. What is mean by FACP?

Ans: FACP means Fire Alarm Control Panel.

83. How do maintain slopes in plumbing?

Ans: Depending upon Slab thickness.

84. Types of Transformers?

Ans: Dry Type T/F used in Indoor. Oil Type T/F used in Outdoor.

85. What is PVC,XLPE,SWA & FRLS?

Ans: PVC → Poly Vinyl Chloride. XLPE → Cross :Link Poly Ethylene, SWA → Steel Wire
Armour, FRLS → Fire Retardant Low Smoke.
86. What is difference between link CAD and Import CAD?

Ans: Link CAD is Type Property, Import CAD is Instance Property. Import CAD used in Family
creation. Link CAD used for Project Specifications.
