1. CONTEXT

In this assignment, you will build the solution demo that you discussed and planned in the previous
activity.

You will:
1. Build solution mockups using the actual technology framework for a demo to your prospects. For
example, if you are developing a website, create your mockup as a website instead of creating a
Photoshop image of the website.
2. Run the interview scripts/questionnaire.
3. Receive feedback from prospects.

The objectives of this assignment are:

 Build solution mockups using the actual technology framework.
 Help your interview prospects visualize your solution.
 Analyze the feedback that you receive from your prospects.
 Label every element on your mock-up as “must-have,” ”nice-to-have,” or “don’t need.”

3. TIPS TO CONDUCT SOLUTION INTERVIEWS

When conducting solution interviews, keep the following tips in mind:

1. Use old prospects.
Follow-up with your old prospects only if you have taken their permission to do so during earlier
Problem Interviews. If the prospect matches your early adopter demographic, arrange a follow-up
Solution Interview with them.
2. Mix in some new prospects.
It is a good idea to mix-in new prospects with every batch of interviews so that you can test all the
hypotheses with a “beginner’s mind.” Your earlier interviews should have yielded some referrals
that you can use. This is also the time to start testing any other channel/s that you identified in
your last iteration.

Next, run a solution interview using the structure shown below:

1. Welcome (Set the Stage)

We want to express our gratitude for taking the time and giving us a chance to speak with you
today.

We are currently working on a review hub designated for students, anyone who wants to review,
or just want to have a quiet place to read. This idea was made after we realized that reviewing
shouldn't be that stressful that it will take its toll on our mental health.

I will start by describing the main problems we are tackling, and then I will ask whether any of
those resonate with you. I also would like to show you the services that will be included in our
business.

Our main objective is to learn from you, not to pitch anything to you. Will that be alright for you?

2. Collect Demographics (Test Customer Segment)

Before we go on to the problems, I would like to learn a little about you:

Foundational Course in Entrepreneurship
 How many people do you have in your family?
 What is your birth order?
 Do you study more at school or outside?
 How often?

3. Illustrate the top three problems with a story

Great, thanks. So, let me tell you about the problems we are tackling.

Being a student, the most important thing they should do is to study especially before taking any
exams. Even though students can study in their house, they cannot focus because there are times
that their parents will ask them to do something or their siblings will make some noise that will
eventually lose their focus and once the students lose their focus, they will not continue with their
study because now they feel lazy.

Some students do study in a coffee shop but in the first place, coffee shop are not designated for
students to study so there will be no guarantee that they will be able to study there peacefully.

There are libraries in schools but libraries are only open during weekends. And not every students
likes to be in a library especially before exams because it is crowded. And sometimes libraries are
not relaxing to study. Does any of this resonate with you?

4. Demo (Test Solution) -

So, that is what the application looks like right now. We are trying to prioritize what to finish and
release first and would like to ask you a few more questions:
 What part of the demo resonated with you the most?
 Are there any additional features you think are missing?

5. Test Pricing (Revenue Streams)

So, let's talk about the pricing next.
We have 3 packages:
First, the regular table with hot or iced coffee which is 150 pesos only.
Second, solo wherein you have your own private cubicle with hot or iced coffee which is 250 pesos
only.
Third, group wherein you and your friends (3-6 persons) will have your own room with hot or iced
coffee which is 400 pesos only.

6. Wrapping Up (The Ask)

Thanks a lot for your time today. You have been very helpful. As I mentioned in the beginning, this
is not yet established, but we are about to open soon. Would you be interested in visiting us when
Foundational Course in Entrepreneurship
we are already open?

Also, we are looking to interview more people like yourself. Do you know any other students
whom we could interview?

7. Document Results
We have come up to a conclusion that most of our interviewees resonate with our demo that it is
hard to focus in their study when they are at home because they have siblings that constantly
make noises and their parents doesn't understand that they need to study. Having a peaceful place
to study is something that must to have for most of them. Six out of ten says that they would also
like to have an overnight study hub for thesis. Since, sometimes group mates are far away from
each other or in schools that's why they wanted a place that can do a thesis or any group activities
that is hard to accomplish in a relaxing place and the venue is near the schools.
