Sample Lesson Script
I. Greetings – 3 mins.
YOU: Hi good morning/ afternoon/evening! ( SMILE)
I am ________. I will be your tutor for today!
YOU: What is your name?
Student : _____________.
YOU: How are you today?
Student: ______________.
-Since this is our first time in class I would like to know more about you. Why do you want
to study English? ( NOTE: If this question is difficult for the student, give the student some
options. Ex: Do you want to study because of work? Is it for school? Is it for traveling? Are
you studying for an exam?)
- Please tell me about your hobbies.
EX: Student: I like soccer.
YOU: That’s great. Why do you like playing soccer?
(Please ask follow up questions such as WHY, WHEN, WHERE and WHAT)
-Ask 2 or 3 more questions. After that thank the student.
YOU: Thank you for sharing those things with me. Now, shall we begin with the lesson?
II. Confirm the lesson number
YOU: Do you have General A1 Lesson 5? Introducing Yourself?
Student: Yes I do.
YOU: Alright. Let us now go to number 1 Phrase of the day.
III. Phrase of the day – 3 mins
Ask your student an engaging question. Question related to his real life experiences
that will lead him to the lesson.
EX: Phrase of the day – I’m from Englad.
YOU: Where are you from?
STUDENT: I’m from Japan.
YOU: Very good that is our topic for today. Please repeat after me. I am from
England.
(You can have a small talk about the phrase of the day.)
IV. SITUATION- 1 min
YOU: Now let us go to number 2 Situation, please repeat after me.
V. DIALOGUE – 5 mins.
YOU: Now let us go to the dialogue.
(You need to read the instructions as it is. Follow the instructions. Don’t forget to ask
comprehension questions.)
VI. VOCABULARY – 4 mins.
You: Good job in reading our dialogue. Now let’s go to Vocabulary.
(Read the instructions as it is.)
Ask your student to make sentences using the words.
Ask your student to give you the synonyms or antonyms of the words.
VII. LANGUAGE FOCUS- 2 mins .
YOU: Good job in making sentences. Now let’s go to number 5 language focus.
Read the instructions and follow it.
VIII. ACTIVITY: 6 mins.
YOU: Good job in reading. Now let’s answer our activity for today.
(If there are hints please read the hints and ask the student to repeat after you.)
