VXR-7000 Programming Software CE27
Additional Programming Software Instructions
The programming software is written for DOS and generally does not function properly
under Windows XP or later Windows versions. Many newer PC’s also tend to be too
fast. It is recommended to use an older (slower) machine and start it up in DOS mode.
Running the software in a DOS box under older Windows versions, e.g. Windows 98
may also work.
In order to be able to program frequencies below 150 MHz as well as have access to
common parameters, i.e. parameters applicable to all channels and other “hardware
environment” parameters the program has to be started with the switch -f.
This can be done by typing “ce27 –f” in the command line (not the quotes) and pressing
enter.
The program will ask for a password. Type in “ansho-bango” and press enter.
The commands and options in the main screen (channel edit screen) are described in
the software manual.
It is recommended to first read the current settings from the repeater before altering
anything. This is done by pressing F5 (Read ROM). The repeater has to be on and the
programming interface cable has to be attached to the proper serial port (default COM1)
on the PC and the mic connector on the front panel of the repeater.
Any changes made in the software are not written to the repeater until F6 (Write ROM)
is pressed.
When you press F2 the program will go to the “Common Data” screen. Parameters in
here are also described in the manual. These can be altered but be careful to avoid
selecting options that are not applicable to this particular repeater version, e.g. VHF
versus UHF.
As a note if the program is started without the switch –f this screen will just show the
settings but will not allow the user to change anything nor will it allow the user to go to
other menus as described below.
From this screen the program goes to “hardware environment” (only when the program
was started with the –f switch and the proper password) by pressing F2. These
parameters are only meant to be changed by authorized servicing personnel. However
this is the only way to get to the point where the 150 MHz lower limit can be modified.
Also here be careful not to select anything that is not applicable to the hardware.
This lower frequency limit can be changed for both the receive frequency and the
transmit frequency by pressing F3 (lowest). In this case the software reads directly from
the repeater before entering the menu, so the repeater has to be on and connected to
the PC at this point if that was not already the case. After entering parameter values,
make sure you go back through the menus by pressing F2 repeatedly until the program
is back in the “Common” screen and then hit F8 to go back to “Channel Edit”. If instead
the escape key is used to exit the menus all changes made will be discarded.
