II. OBJECTIVES
This 2018 Contingency Plan covers 1 school of division of Oroquieta in Region X. It
focuses on Natural Hazard like typhoon, flood and thunderstorm.
This contingency plans aim to:
a. Ensure the safety of all the people in the community especially the children at
the site/facility
b. Reduce the risk of disaster caused by natural hazards such as typhoon and flood.
c. Be better prepared to recover from a major natural catastrophe
d. Safeguard and make available vital materials, supplies and equipment to ensure
the safety and recovery of records from predictable disasters
III. HAZARD
Based on the flood map provided by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management,
Barangay Tuyabang Alto is not merely at risk of flood because of its geographical location. When
there is heavy rains, the submarine that is located at the boundary between Mobod and Tuyabang
Alto will overflow because of the presence of the two rivers namely Dulapo River and Villaflor
River respectively and this made it hazardous for the people passing by the submarine. The roads
also becomes slippery that sometimes makes the passers-by worry to travel using their vehicle for
accident might occur.
When there is a typhoon or strong winds, the roads are not also safe for it is surrounded
by plenty of trees along the by ways. Sometimes slight landslide will occur. The school is safe
from flood only the roads are prone to flood. Inside the school ground, there are hazardous
lumbered trees that there branches and twigs may fall every time there is a strong winds.
With regards to school capacities upon responding the disaster, in terms of its learning
materials the school can assure its continuity of learning of the pupils. There are enough textbooks
and other learning resources found in each classroom. The school also conducts a regular drills
to orient and made known the pupils on what to do and not to do during such disaster. Parents,
barangay officials, other stakeholders and the LGU’s were invited in the conduct of the drills.
Evacuation route are visible in the school in each building guiding the pupils where to go to avoid
harm. Pupils were oriented on the safe places for their security. Parents were also aware on what
to do before, during and after the event.
