COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is primarily intended for accountancy students who will be preparing an
Accountancy Research during the 1st semester of the 4th Year Level. Students learn
statistical techniques for further study in business, economics, finance, and accounting.
The course covers introduction to SPSS, sampling distributions, probability, confidence
intervals, hypothesis testing, correlations, regression, basic modeling, analysis of
variance, and chi-square tests. The primary software to be used is the Statistical
Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Organize and present quantitative data such that trends and conclusions are
suggested.
2. Infer some characteristics of a population by examining a portion of the population.
3. Compare characteristics of different populations.
4. Make informed decisions in a probabilistic business environment.
5. Think critically with respect to quantitative information.
6. Write and present a mini-research paper.
