The case talks about ABC Ltd which is a manufacturer of fertilizers and LAB.

On implementing FDI in
the fertilizer sector, it was likely to face intense competition. Manish wants to concentrate more on
the detergent sector. In order to increase the annual sale turnover, he needs to do a market
research. For problem identification research, he needs to understand the potential of ABC Limited
in the detergent market with the help of comparison of market share with the competitors supplying
other ingredients of detergents. Business trend of detergent industries across the year has to be
studies and proper forecasting of the product needs to be conducted. For problem solving research
we can got for segmentation on the basis of customers preferring the LAB ingredient in detergent
produced by HUL, P&G and Nirma. Promotional research can be performed based on the
advertisements in television and social media. The bottleneck identified by Manish i.e. distribution
can be resolved by conducting interview with the distributors and people managing the distribution
channel. This can also be helpful in measuring performance of LAB on the basis of consumer
preference. Further, introduction of FDI on fertilizer can pose considerable effect on the pricing of
LAB.
