Under the scheme, the patients need to get admitted in a government hospital first. After a
screening by the government hospital doctors, a letter will be generated by the authorities
indicating required procedure/ operation facility is not available in the hospital and the patient
can be shifted to any private notified hospital. Based on this letter, free treatment will be
provided at the private hospitals.

A total number of 1,650 treatments/ procedures are available under the scheme in the
government/ private hospitals.

Advantage Of Arogya Karnataka

In an emergency situation, the patients need not wait for the card or the referral by the
government hospital doctors. They can get admitted to any private hospital which is
empanelled.

Shortcomings of Arogya Karnataka

● Only BPL families are provided with free treatment. APL card holders need to pay 70%
of the hospital bills.
● There is no provision for daily expenses.
● Government hospitals are allowed to refer only those patients who can’t be treated at the
government facility.

BPL families who do not have Karnataka Ration Card can get Ayushman Card from their
state and can avail facilities anywhere in India.

The Network Hospitals

Under the scheme, free treatment is available in all the government hospitals on page 6.
Empanelled private hospitals in Bangalore that accept the Arogya Karnataka Card are on page
7. Not all private hospitals provide free treatment under the scheme.

 Organ Donation
Every year more than 500,000 Indians are desperately looking for an organ transplant to be
able to live meaningfully – a kidney or a heart or eyes. Their only hope is a genetically matched
organ donor.

An organ donation means that you give somebody else a secon chance to live; one of the most
noble acts any human being can do. Most organ donations are done after the death of the
donor. When a person dies, his or her body is only cremated or buried. An organ donated prior
to cremation of burial can give somebody else the hope of life.

All the major religions in India promote and support this noble cause.

Pledging to be an organ donor is easy and will take only a few minutes. The National Organ and
Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) under the Ministry of Health, Government of India is
the nodal body for allmatters related to organ donation. You can pledge online to be an organ
donor at https://notto.gov.in/ . You can also fill up Form 7 (available on the NOTTO website) and
mail it to NATIONAL ORGAN AND TISSUE TRANSPLANT ORGANISATION , 4th Floor, NIOP
Building, Safdarjung Hospital Campus, New Delhi-110029

You will be issued with a Donor Card on registration. Inform your family and the organ donation
will be triggered only on death. For more information, contact the NOTTO helpline
1800-11-4770 or access the website https://notto.gov.in/

 Blood stem-cell donation

Patients suffering from blood cncer or from other blood diseases like Thalassemia can be cured
through a blood stem cell transplanted from a genetically matched donor. Anybody above the
age of 18 can be a blood stem cell donor. Unlike organ donation, which usually happens only
after death, blood stem cell donation is a simple process which can be done anytime and is
similar to a blood donation.

To register as a donor visit the website https://datri.org/ or call on 044 22541283
