Vero Rab

Rabies Immune Globulin (RIG) is used for post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies along with rabies vaccination. It provides immediate temporary rabies virus-neutralizing antibodies until the patient develops an immune response to the rabies vaccine. Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) consists of a course of potent rabies vaccine and administration of RIG, and has no contraindications if purified products are used. Nursing responsibilities include ensuring wounds are cleaned after exposure and that PEP is administered promptly according to WHO guidelines.
