1. OVERVIEW
The color LCD that displays 80 digits x 30 rows enables displaying all multiple found values at once and displaying set
values and found values simultaneously.
Numeric keys, function key, and keypad make changing displays and entering values easier.
The Serial communication port enables monitoring the condition of the unit in operation, starting/stopping the unit, and
changing the settings.
Adoption of MODBUS protocol, the world standard in the industry, enables easy-connection and communication with
commercially available SCADA software or PLC MODBUS communication unit in many organizations.
This startup guide is a step-by-step supplementary information to guide you from setting up through to operating this
controller upon installation. For details, refer to the instruction manual, attached with the product.

CPU Reset
When CP4 is booting (on either boot mode) and when the function menu is not displayed, press [SHIFT] + [ALT] +
[DELETE] simultaneously. Then the window below will be displayed. Press [ESC] to cancel. Press [ENTER] to reset
CPU.
READY TO RE-BOOT
PRESS [ESC] TO CANCEL.
PRESS [ENTER] TO CONTINUE.
! WARNING
Resetting CPU will instantly make the CP4 unstable. CP4 will be in a condition same as it is right after turned
on. Do not conduct CPU reset when the compressor or auxiliary machine is running.

3. DISPLAY SCREEN
Display Screen
There are two different status displays on CP4; [MAIN GRAPHIC SCREEN] and [MAIN STATUS SCREEN]. These
two displays can be switched between each other by pressing the [TAB] key when the function menu is closed (not
displayed).
[MAIN STATUS SCREEN] Compared with Graphic screen, more detailed information can be displayed in text.

Password
When trying to open some items from the function menu, you might be asked to enter passwords, as shown below.
The passwords are separated in three levels. The values below are set as the default.

However, the option analog input cannot be a control target.

! CAUTION
When settings are changed in "ANALOG INPUT SCALING,” CPU will auto-reset on closing the screen.
Start CP4 under SPECIAL BOOT, in order to prevent the compressor from a sudden, unpredicted start.

Then, reset CPU again and start under [NORMAL BOOT]. At this point, the operation mode is set at “LOCAL.” DO NOT
press [START] key.
Also, the contact point input DI-12, Confirmation of compressor operation, needs to be “OFF”.
Under [NORMAL BOOT], select “F1: SETPOINTS” – “1. OPERATION MODE”. Set “YES” for “D/O TEST
OPERATION”.

Procedures to adjust the position of the slide valve
1. Press [ENTER] while the window below is displayed.

SOLENOID VALVE OUTPUT will automatically turn OFF.
(DO-02 OIL PUMP OPERATION CONTROL OUTPUT will be OFF as well, and this window will close itself.)
! CAUTION
Conducting “SLIDE VALVE SETUP” will run DO-02 OIL PUMP OPERATION CONTROL OUTPUT in
conjunction. Check all valves, coupling, rotation and guard to ensure safe operation of oil pump before starting
to work on the keypad.
* When optional “AUTO-Vi Control” is selected, the procedures to adjust the slide valve are slightly different.
For details, read “AUTO-Vi CONTROL SETUP,” which is in the end of this book.

changed, depending on the order you setup the options. To avoid the confusion, confirm the assignment here, and
check the actual wiring of analog output.

STEP-10 Offset-Adjustment of Analog Output
You can make slight adjustments on the analog output values (DC4~20mA output) from CP4 (a separate analog
output panel is required.).
Normally, it is not necessary to change the setting, for the output is set to output 0~100% at DC4~20mA output
when the panel is shipped from the factory.
If adjustments are required for your use, such adjustments can be made on this screen shown below.

STEP-13 Setting Up the Communication
This screen guides you to setup each communication port.
You need to set this up, when operation control, data logging, and optional “AUTO-STAGE” through
communication are used.
(If you do not need communication, you do not need to change anything.)
Items Descriptions
You can write on and control CP4 from the Keyboard on PC by connecting
TERMINAL with PC and displaying the CP4 screen on the terminal software.
(Only COM0) Also, you can receive all data displayed in “F4: LOGS – 1. TREND LOG”
as files by using 1k-XModem protocol.
Set the time from receiving a command from Master Communication Station (external
communication device) to sending a response.
RESPONSE
(0~100 x 10msec)
(Response delay time)
When Master Communication Station (external communication device) fails to receive too
fast a response from CP4, you could solve this problem by changing the delay time.

Select a wiring method of the communication wire. (Only on COM0)
WIRING DIRECT: Select this for a direct connection.
MODEM : Select this for connecting with PC via MODEM.
On communication port “COM2,” “COM3,” you can set these settings only when you install and expand the
communication port.
Setup Procedures
1. Check communication conditions of the external communication device that will be connected with CP4.
Depending on the external communication device, the communication exchange number and the parity check
could be fixed (not to be modified.).
Read the instruction manuals of the external communication device and check these conditions.
2. Set the communication conditions (ADDRESS, RATE, FORMAT, RESPONSE, WIRING) on CP4.
Set these conditions on CP4, so that these conditions match those of the external communication device.
When you set the time as [ 0] SEC, the sensor alarm won’t be detected.

STEP-17 Setting Scheduled Operations
CP4 has “SCHEDULER” function on which changes the operating conditions according to the time of the day or
the day of the week. You can set up to 7 schedules on SCHEDULER. Each schedule can be set maximum 8 hours
in-between each other.
